too many Afflicted... afflicted questions inside
So I see a lot, too many, of these guys walking around. apparently there is a hard coded bug that occurs sometimes where they take the place of other roaming npcs (for instance, I've only seen a peddler once in dozens of played hours).

Looked up the quest, there is a quest at Peryite you can do to do stuff and kill someone and etc.

Does this stop Afflicted Refugees from wandering all over skyrim? or do they continue to walk around no matter what?

I don't remember them being this prevalent in other playthroughs.. but I kind of want to get rid of them.

Best I can make out, there are two types of Afflicted you can find around the world - neutral ones (Refugees), who point you towards Peryite's shrine, and hostile ones (Remnants) who, well, don't.

Completing Peryite's quest, "The Only Cure", should stop the Refugees from spawning.

Might be a glitch with the mod 'Timing is Everything' if you use it. I was using that mod and had the same problem---set the level for the quest to start at say level 30, and when reaching 30 I got endless encounters with afflicted refugees. It was only when I completed the Peryite quest that random encounters on the road returned to normal.

Thanks for this information. It just started happening to me and it is annoying.

I even tried saving the game and reloading before entering the spawn trigger area and the afflicted are the dominant spawn most of the time, even at night where I should be getting some Vampires.

I guess I will have to complete Peryite quest to get rid of it, now that it is too late to set the quest higher using Timing is Everything.
