Modding | Vertex Colors / Vertex Alpha | Blender Export | Help Request
Hi there!

I am currently failing to export a mesh from blender with vertex colors (or vertex alpha) and was wondering if anyone here could help me with this issue?

-Blender 2.79
-Blender NIF Plugin (latest)

I am trying to export a mesh with vertex alpha, i followed all steps mentioned in
https://readthedocs.org/projects/blender-nif-plugin/downloads/pdf/develop/
for vertex alpha including an empty first vertexcolor map
However I received th following error:

" Attribute Error: 'bpy_prop_array' object has no attribute 'r' "

After I renamed the first vertexcolor map to 'r' another error came up:

Attribute Error: 'bpy_prop_array' object has no attribute 'v'

So I tried to rename the second map to 'v' however this did not make it work :(
Anyone here who knows how to properly export vertex colors or alpha via the Blender Tools?

Your help would be highly appreciated! :steamsad:

Update: Vertex colors/alpha export are currently not supported by any Blender Nif exporter :(

The latest version of the niftools pre-release for importing and exporting NIF requires Blender 2.80: https://github.com/niftools/blender_nif_plugin/releases
You can check if what you are looking for is featured there possibly, but I have not noticed any statements about "Vertex colors/alpha".

Previous releases of niftools are instead more obligated to work on Blender 2.5.x which can still be set up, though requires a bit of effort.

I cannot speak for exporting in Blender 2.79 as I personally felt after trying many different versions that nothing really worked in the NIF-category.
I have had success ONLY re-sculpting (consistent vert counts, etc.) so far, and exporting in 2.80 with the latest pre-release despite a few setbacks, having to use NifSkope to fill in any blanks within the exported .nif file itself.

Beyond the aforementioned versions I would instead recommend consulting other 3D software such as 3DSMax if you are looking to work with NIF files to a higher degree.

You are not likely to have a great experience with 2.79 currently as far as as NIF is concerned, unless there is an edition that I have missed somewhere else that works well with exports.
