Google first, ask questions later.

it didnt load any nexus mods when i tried that
Are you certain you placed the SKSE files in the correct location? They go in your main Skyrim directory, not in the Data folder.

And you should open NMM and at the top left it says launch Skyrim. There should a drop down box for launching SKSE
I've been getting that error code also. What does error code 1 mean? When that popped up I didnt find anything wrong with my gameplay. When the message first came up it says "Race Menu Error, SKSE script Version mismatch. Its been telling me to reinstall the matching files for it. What I've done is I updated my SKSE with a new version that had came out. I went from Ver. 1.7.2 to 1.7.3. Is it possible that some of Ver. 1.7.2 hasnt been completely removed or maybe something didnt get rewritten over properly? Like I said I havent had any issues that would prevent me to play the game. Except that everytime I log in to play that message would pop up. Should I be worried about it?
I got this error because I accidentily installed SKSE in a different Steam library on a different drive than Skyrim.

I suggest you quote us the full error, verbatim. Methinks it's not telling you to do what you think it's telling you to do.
I'm on windows 10 and encountered the same issue. Running it as admin didn't solve it. But this is what did: Go to SKSE in your Steam library, right click it, properties (lowest option), select the 'local files' tab and click verify intergrity of game cache. :steamhappy:
SKSE in steam library !!? try your main folder in C: drive for skyrim it goes there.(or which drive you have \steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\skse situated)
I found the solution! Set SKSE from the official site.

I found the solution :

- Download SKSE from the main site https://skse.silverlock.org/
- Clic on "install" (it will download the installer)
- Run the installation
- Set your game dirrectory if it doesn't find it automatically (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim)
you should have an incon on your desktop "Skyrim (SKSE)"
- Open Mod organiser and edit a new launch program
- Name it ("SKSE 1" for exemple)
- Select the shortcut on your desktop "Skyrim (SKSE)"
- Add your personalized executable and launch it.
