I can't download the Skyrim: High Resolution Texture Pack (Free DLC) from Steam.
My brother bought the legendary Skyrim edition (from Steam) and I am using the family sharing option. Is there a reason why I can't download the Skyrim: High Resolution Texture Pack (Free DLC) from Steam? The game says that I need to install the game first before I can download the texture pack, but I had the game and the other DLC (HearthFire, Dragonborn, DawnGuard) downloaded for some time now. Do I have to buy my own copy of Skyrim Legendary Edition in order to download the free texture pack? My computer is more then capable of using the high resolution texture DLC pack. I need this pack in order for me to download the unofficial high resolution pack and an ENB that I want.

Perhaps your brother might be able to download it ?

Right click on Skyrim in your list of games, left click on PROPERTIES, left click on DLC-make sure the Hi Res Texture Pack is checked on. Now left click on LOCAL FILES, left click on VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE, after it done it's thing-do not worry about what it says just close down the page a press play-the game will now detect your graphic' card and set it's recommend settings, now go play your game-do not be surprized if you don't really see any changes

I don't even have the option. All it says is The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim: DragonBorn, Hearthfire, and Dawnguard for the downloadable content that I have available on Steam. All of those boxes are already checked. I have more then enough room on my SSD to download the 4.4GB of content.

If you really wnat HighRes textures, check Nexus. Much better options there and better performance then the official ones.

Many of the Skyrim ENB's on the nexus require the high resolution texture pack in order to run properly.

Perhaps. I'll have to get back to you on that - he is out of town at the moment. I'm fairly certain that he was able to download the texture pack.
dont waste time getting HD pack its not really worth it , grab the better skyrim thingies rom nexus mod or from the workshop

if the games registered to your brother only he can add to it you cant , he can share it with you , but it isn't your game , if he doesnt want the added texture pack then you need to buy your own copy and then add it ,
with the sharing feature i doubt you can even add an enb or mods , seems allof that would be locked to your brothers config

Are you saying that if he didn't download the high resolution texture pack then I can't download it?

I downloaded all of the unofficial skyrim patch mods, many armor and clothing mods, and the UFO mod already.

If those mods are working and your computer has any kick, then go for 2K HD Textures (Light) instead.

ENBs should not care about what texture mod you are using. Light version shouldn't be very taxin to your computer, if you don't have a horde of mods that would cause stutter or lag.

i'm surprised it lets you install them , you have basically changed a game that isn't yours ,
so if your brother doesn't want them in his game is he screwed ? when he plays does it auto revert back to his settings ?
i'm curious ??

In family share you can download games onto the other computer my son has it at his home and where he works(live in at a minesite). Only thing is if I play that game he gets kicked off and is asked to buy the game or close out and wait for me not to be in it. This is also be vica versa I have over 60 of his games in my steam account that I can play.

I am having the same issue. I tried this solution, and so far it's been sitting at the Validating Steam Files - 0% complete window. "Validating The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim file (1 of 1) and has been stuck there for about 8 hours.

Any suggestions?
