Do you need a really good computer to play this.
I have this game on console and am thinking about getting it for pc but I am not sure my pc can run it.

Step 1: Check PC specs
Step 2: Check skyrim minimum requirements
Step 3: Compare

If you meet the requirements, then play Skyrim.
If you don't, well ♥♥♥♥.

Also, no, Skyrim doesn't need a really good computer to run it at all. As a matter of fact, I ran Skyrim with a perfect 60 fps on my old laptop with integrated graphics, a $200 laptop. Mind you all my settings were on low, and it was in windowed mode on a really low resolution. A small box on the corner of my screen, but I still enjoyed it.

Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU.
4GB System RAM.
6GB free HDD space.
DirectX 9.0c compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with 1GB of RAM (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher).
DirectX compatible sound card.

Those are the minimum requirements.
If you don't have those, you can still 'probably' run Skyrim. Play in windowed mode, turn all your settings to the lowest, and change your resolution to one of the lowest ones.

some people will tell you, you do, but you can play just fine with a low end system. even if your computer is struggling, there are a few mods/tricks you can use to increase performance.

I play on medium settings on an Intel HD 4000 gpu, i5 2.50ghz processor, 8gb ram laptop, and it runs perfectly fine. I've seen people on this forum say you can't run skyrim on such a system; they talk utter rubbish

I'm on medium-low settings on a Geforce 210

Skyrim is an amazing game- but it will literally take over your life (for a couple of weeks)
I am able to run it on a dell core i5 (not a gaming laptop) on low with little to no lag.

Thanks for all your help I now have Skyrim just waiting for it to download

The real reason to get this for PC is all the mods you can add. If your computer is low end, it may not look as nice as your console version, but there are many mods that have to do with gameplay improvements, not just uberrealisticgraphics. There are many ways to improve performance that you can look up. For example, there are ways to remove the crappy shadows you get at low settings (check out Nexus) and greatly improve framerates.

My computer is probably the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ computer ever for gaming but skyrim works perfectly on it. I would 100% recommend getting skyrim for the pc!

Skyrim is easy to run, but fully maxed out every slider full it dips a little to 40fps in some towns on my 290x.

i have to wonder , why bother getting it for a pc that you arent even sure can run it ? you already have it on a console , bad pc = poor graphics maybe poor fps , no mods . console = meger/ok graphics that will work ,

it's still the same game ,

True but I've finished the main game on console and now im interested in mods.

but if you have a questionable computer ,you really wont be able to mod it , you'll end up with a very frustrating experience ,
just sayin , so you know what you're getting into

Mods aren't just about the graphics. There are quite a few gameplay enhancements that have nothing to do with how the game looks, and most of them have little impact on resources.

Hmm, well it runs just fine on an old PC I have access to: fullscreen on a Dual-core Intel (E6600) with 2GB system Ram a GT 430 on High settings. Even runs a few texture mods (Skyrim 2K HD)
