Do souls you capture end up in the Soul Cairn?
If you soul trap, say, nazeem and use him to enchant a dagger, would he end up in the Soul Cairn?

I could tell you, but then I would have to kill you. Then you would know yes or no. Actually, don't know, don't care that much either.

Souls that gets trapped inside a Black Soul Gem, is send to the Soul Cairn.
So, kill him and trap him inisde a Black Soul Gem, then let's see who's gonna go to the Cloud Distric often.

It's Souls that gets trapped in Black Soul Gems, Valerie even explains it.

Acording to lore, yes, trapped souls used on enchanting go to Soul Cairn, but you can't see them ingame.

Wow there must be one helluval load of bandits in the soul cairn then. Considering they repopulate after a short time there must outnumber the population of Skyrim ten times over.

It would appear that even the animals you trap end up there.

If I understand correctly, when you spend the soul you are sending it to the Soul Cairn in return for some magic powers from the Ideal Masters (In the form of what ever enchantment you put on the blade). Then you have to continue to feed them souls to keep it working

oh , that makes sense, i did kinda wonder how that worked

Nice to see you here too ;)

No, I've read some sources according to this subject, including lore books and the wiki. In all of them is stated that the souls used for enchanting are sent to the Soul Cairn, and it's the energy of said trapped creature or person what recharges or enchants the weapon or armor.

In one of those sources (I'll try to remember which) it's even said that everytime you enchant or recharge a weapon (or armor) you are actually making a trade with the Ideal Masters. They'll infuse the energy of the creature as a recharge or enchantment into your weapon in exchange of it's soul.

Edit: Nerevar beat me to it.

see, now i dont want to use enchanted armour . i hate the ideal masters , if i enchant things then ,ergo i'm feeding them , i dont wanna do that , i gotta rethink my char , this is a great thread , an eye opener , the op gets 2 thumbs up for posting it
pike Jul 23, 2014 @ 8:38pm
wow , this is a game changer for me i thought of my char as being good , but if i feed the ideal masters with souls ? i feel like i'm doing the wrong thing
The obvious answer is only soul trap objectivily bad people (Bandits, assasins, that kinda thing), so while you are giving them souls, you are still sparing the souls of the pure.

Gotta make my self a char of that. Like, a holy paladin that works for the Ideal Masters, soul trapping the wicked and sending their souls to the masters as punishment for their sins
