[SOLVED] Black textures on certain items?
I've installed many texture mods through the Nexus Mod Manager and everything seemed okay until I walked into Markarth (I installed an HD texture pack for it). Random items and world objects such as bars in inns and armor in the smithing menu get this dark, black texture on it and each time I reload Skyrim it's something different. It does not appear to be a lighting problem just a texture issue. I have read on a forum that this could be due to running out of texture memory (which is 3.1GB I believe) but I believe this causes purple, missing textures not black ones, I also do not know how to check texture memory. I tried to install the Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch but it did not fix anything...
UPDATE: So I went into the game after disabling the Unofficial Patch to get screenshots of the problem and everything is fine. Can anyone explain why this happened and how to prevent it?

I would suggest making sure archive invalidation is on.

Would I need a separate mod manager to check it? If so do you have any recommendations?

You can do it through NMM, or just go into the .ini file and manually do it. This seems more like missing textures, so I suggest after check archive invalidation is on to verify the game cache.

From what I understand when you get a purple texture it means you are missing the texture or the texture is placed in a wrong folder and so the mesh displays a purple colour. If you see black textures that are randomly occuring, then its a probably a memory issue. My computer is pretty old and sometimes when overloaded with 2K textures and fast travelling or some program is running in the background taking up memory, I get black textures on random things.

Done and done, my game looks good so far. Thanks for your help!

Well it could possibly be a memory issue but my computer is only a few months old, I think it's fixed at least for now. Thank you for your help as well.

I have the same problem. Do you know how to fix this in the easiest way forever?

Most often it is a game file ended up getting corrupted so verifying with Steam can usually fix the issue.

And if it doesn't you can use Loot and Wyre Bash to find what mods could be the culprit as some mods mess with default textures and can conflict and cause issues like flickering textures or random issues.
