I just completed the mission of transcribing that cube object and gave it back to him, next thing I know, there's that purple vortex that spawns. It shows the phrase, "Click E to talk to wretched abyss" but when I click E, it doesn't do anything. I've experienced previous glitches but fixed them by simply waiting in the game (clicking t) or leaving and reopening skyrim. This glitch could be due to me not wanting to download my dlc I bought. But I have no clue in all.

No, until the dlc has been installed it makes no changes to your game. Try these console commands, do not exit the console between commands.

~ <click on the abyss with your mouse>
disable<enter>
enable<enter>
Exit the console and see if you can interact with him.

Do you have usleep? or any other Unoffical patch. CFC111 suggestion should have worked.

There is a solution that always works with everything. Even if you get stuck on a quest on the future. You just need to skip the quest stage and proceed to the next stage (Like after talking to the wretched abyss).

To do that, open the console and follow these steps:

1. Type: "ShowQuestTargets" and find the quest name or ID.
   
2. Type: "GetStage <QuestID>" <------(here is were you put the quest ID). This will give you the stage number of your quest.
   
3. Finally, type: "SetStage <quest id> <stage value>" (here is where you type the ID of the quest, then SPACE, then the current <stage value> +1. For example: if your current stage number is "70", you type "71").

This is basically how you can skip talking with the wretched abyss and proceed to the next stage of your quest. This method works for all quests. I hope anyone reading this, will find it helpful.
