Dragonrend come early?

So, I was doing the "Discerning the Transmundane" quest, and I got the elder scroll. I read it, and I am now learning dragonrend, even though I'm barely into the quest line. Is this supposed to happen?

I was going to say the one after The throat of the world, but right on queue, It appears that the elder scroll is needed in the next quest.

Yeah. But technically, I haven't actually started the quest involving dragonrend, so I'm technically skipping ahead. Well either way, that's a funny event.

I'd be inclined to suggest reloading a save before you read the scroll, and maybe before picking it up, just in case anything goes screwy with the MQ... Or at the very least making sure you have a backup save before that to go back to if screwiness happens.

I had wondered if it's possible to do that - read the scroll at the throat of the world without the quest being active. If you use certain mods (I think Dragon Break does), Blackreach is accessible from the get go, and so is grabbing the scroll if you see Septimus first. All without the need for dragon souls or a Borri to learn it. I might try it for a larf. :)

I know one of the ASLAL starts is in Blackreach. "Necromancer in a secluded lair", IIRC - the lair being Synderion's lab.

But you don't have the cube to access the scroll, only the sphere to activate the stairs.

If you have all expansions/legendary you can obtain (Dragon) Elder Scroll via Dawnguard quest Scrolls scouting before you have even visited grey beards in first place.
I tested this on my last play throught but ofcourse I had lastest Unofficial patch installed. Normal way you would have went after scroll anyway after Throat to world.

Yeah, I read it, but immediately reloaded a save because I wasn't going to deal with alduin early.

I think you've read this thread wrong. I may have found a glitch that lets you dodge a large part of the main questline which is triggered by doing septimus' quest.
