Skyrim CTD due to High Res Texture Packs 1, 2, and 3
I'm having some CTD's from fast travelling or simply just from 5 minutes into loading in. I'm sure my pc is able to handle skyrim at ultra high settings, but I really don't want to downgrade in textures since those packs defeat the purpose of their titles. I do not play with mods. Any help? My specs are:
Intel Core i7-4950
Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 ti
Corsair Vengeance LPX 2 x 8 gb

Move the Unoffical legandary patch down, Load it after the resolution patch.

And don't waste your time with LOOT, You don't have a mod list that needs it.

It is to do with memory maybe enboost is required texture packs chew up juice maybe lower your graphic setting abit to high.

I'd strongly recommend getting a high quality mod texture pack (or rather a few) to override most of the HD DLC, it's horribly optimised and can cause a lot of lag, I doubt it's associated with CTDs in general, but sometimes overloaded vram can lead to crashes, I think, and inefficient textures are probably not good for that.

Some packs to check out, I'm on mobile so linking would be a hassle, but the following should cover a lot of the game if you use the whole lot:

Noble Skyrim HD - this one may be a bit too different from vanilla for some people (Whiterun in particular looks noticeably different) but in my opinion it's different in a good way. Covers a lot of things - architecture, landscapes, clutter... If you don't like the design choices then check out Skyrim HD which I think covers similar areas.

AmidianBorn Book of Silence - creatures and armours. I've been told these are not greatly optimised, and there are ways of improving on that, but plenty of people use these textures "out of the box", if your PC is strong you probably won't have a problem.

RUSTIC mods by Gamwich - especially CLOTHES, but I also like the ones for soul gems, cooking stations, alchemy and enchanting stations, kids...

XCE and/or Total Character Makeover: these basically improve on the vanilla looks of human/elf characters (there are also mods available for beast races but unless I'm playing as one I think they look fine). Doesn't drastically change anything (XCE is the more vanilla of the two) but makes faces a bit less clunky and such.

Mature Skin and Skysight Skins -skin textures. (NB some of the pictures are nsfw but these mods will not make characters naked) again, I feel these are the most "vanilla but better" skin textures available, they aren't overly airbrushed or perfect, they just look, well, more like real people's skin.

Oh, and Superior Lore Friendly Hair (a nicer texture for vanilla hairstyles, though it does tend to brighten the colours a bit) and of course Immersive Lore Friendly Cheese and Cabbage.

Ok. I'll try those. Thanks for the help everyone. It is much appreciated

Oh, and I forgot to say, they're all on nexus, I strongly recommend you use a mod manager to install them, as it will make removing them easier. Alternatively, you could install one manually, go in game, have a look round, decide if you like it, if not you can simply delete the textures (and maybe meshes? Some texture mods contain a few fixed meshes) that are in your Data folder. Rinse and Repeat (but if you DO like them, still temporarily remove to test the next one.)

Because they are only texture/mesh replacers, they won't affect your save data, so it's perfectly safe to uninstall and play on. (Other types of mods should not be removed without reverting to an older save that didn't include the mod.)

(They don't actually *replace* any vanilla files, those are all safely kept in .bsa archives, but the game knows to load loose textures instead of .bsa ones if there are some in your Data folder, so removing them won't leave you with missing textures.)
