Blue / Purple character skin glitch?

Ive installed many mods and loaded up my game to find my skin is purple and i oculdnt find i fix so i deleted all my mods and reinstalled the game last night and the problem still happens. why does this happen? please help ;(

Have you tried to make the game fully vanilla? Instructions are linked to pinned topic Player spreadsheet. It may be that you have files or configuration tweaks causing this problem.

If that does not fix it, then this may be a VRAM issue, related to your graphic card or it's drivers.

ill take a look currently i reinstalled the whole game and its vanilla

Make sure to delete configuration files Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini from Documents 》My Games 》Skyrim.

Okay, I will try that first.

I deleted both ini files and the problem still exists maybe the save is corrupted ill start a new game and see if the issue is still arround when i do that.

it seems when i start a new save the problem doesnt exist! I wonder why this is happening ive seen other discussions on this exact issue.

This may be because of a RaceMenu body overlay/tattoo from a mod you no longer had.

If you can, you should attempt to reinstall your mods from before, or at least reinstall RaceMenu and clear the overlays from there.

The issue has been solved! I went back a couple saves and the texture issue has been solved thanks for all your help guys :)

Actually, it can be from any mod that affects the textures on your body. Basically, your skeleton (your 3D model) is loaded but what should be on it is not. It can be an overall texture overhaul, a RaceMenu body overlay/tattoo, better skin mod, anything. It can happen either when the game expects it to be there and it is not, or when you do have it installed but it fails to render the textures. You can try to reinstall the mod or install another one instead. Or simply use the vanilla version.
A tip - ALWAYS make a backup copy your .ini files before adding new mods and keep track of when you last used them and what mods you installed after saving them. It saves you a lot of trouble with deleting mods afterwards.

Hey, guys? It was an easier fix for me than I expected. After I reinstalled the mods, I loaded my latest save, put all my things in a container, and typed "prid 14; recycleactor" into the console. It solved the purple hands and got everything back where it was supposed to be. Idk if it would have worked without me reinstalling everything, but maybe that's a good first attempt at a fix.

Note: It will give you some default stuff and replace your whole inventory, so make sure to put away anything you don't care to lose.

This is an old thread but i figured id post my version of the fix in case someone else comes across this and is scratching their heads:

My Purple skin problem happened after a few hours of gameplay, just randomly in a dungeon, searched around a bit for an answer, most said to reinstall mods and whatnot but i want to have my cake and eat it xD

So after i got this problem i loaded my character preset in RaceMenu again and that fixed the purple skin problem for my toon. havent seen it on anything else yet but this might be only applicable to my version of the problem.

It's Todd Howard's fault one of your mods was acting up? Good to know.
