Creation Kit Custom Race Problems
Okay, so here's the details: I am currently trying to edit a custom race so that it will be able to be flagged as a Vampire. The custom race is called "The Kitsune" race by "Rayne72 and Charismoon". Now, what happens is whenever I try to open the Creation Kit and open the race, it gives me an error, and CTD's the Creation Kit. How do I fix this? The error code says this: "File:..\TES Shared\misc\BGSLocalizedString.cpp

Line: 2871
LOCALIZATION: Error opening or reading strings file."

Followed by this,

"MASTERFILE: LOCALIZATION: Zero entries or empty block size read from strings file STRINGS/Dawnguard_ENGLISH.STRINGS. Strings will be missing."

Followed by the same as before, and then it crashes. It doesn't matter which option I pick for the errors, they always end up CTD'ing CK.

you did include the reference to the DLCs in the CK ini-file ?

Alright, keep in mind that I haven't used CK in years now. How do I do that?

You need to make the following changes to the SkyrimEditor.ini file, located in C:\...\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim as follows:

Add these to the end of the following section:
[General]
bAllowMultipleMasterFiles=1
bAllowMultipleMasterLoads=1

Copy and Paste the following into the [Archive] section:
SResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Update.bsa, Dawnguard.bsa, Hearthfires.bsa, Dragonborn.bsa

Alright, that's done. Anything else?

not to my knowledge. you always get error messages when you start CK up.
EDIT. the language has to be set to english as well if any other language was selected. that is also somewhere in that ini-file

Okay, well, the problem is still persisting. Maybe its just that I'm doing something wrong loading the custom race in the Creation Kit? I click on the Data tab, checkmark Kitsune.esp, Skyrim.esp, Update.esp, Race Compatability.esp, and Dawnguard.esp, but after it gets to about 9% of initializing, the error messages pop up.

error messages are normal, but do you still get CTDs ?

Yes.

I am not familiar with Kitsune and Race Compatibility mods. Do they normally rely on other mods to function ? All required mods have to be selected as well
[T13] ÆUGH May 8, 2016 @ 1:50am
Well, the Kitsune mod rely's on Skyrim.esp, and Race Compatibility.esp to run. Race Compatibility requires Dawnguard.esp to run.

I was more thinking in the lines of SKSE and such. It has been a while too for me using the CK. I still recall the basics like those ini-tweaks, but beyond that I would have to search too. Sorry I could not be of more help.

It's fine man lol.

i don´t think you can edit it through creation kit, you need to do it ingame.
but you need to complete the vampire quest to be a vampire
... or just use the vampire cheat command to be a vampire

Okay, I may have solved the problem. The problem wasn't the race itself, it was actually just the Dawnguard DLC. Here is what I did to fix it: So, in the SkyrimEditor.ini file, I added Dawnguard.bsa after the end of every Update.bsa. So far, that seems to have stopped the CTD's, and I can load my race into the Creation Kit without a hitch.
