Shield Brother Vanished
I was trying to become a companion, and then a dude sent me to get a maguffin with Vilkas being my shield brother. I went into the dungeon. I got trapped in a room. Vilkas turned into a werewolf, went invisible, killed some dudes and didn't let me out. There was also a bad guy left. AND like the genious I am, I saved over my other save in the dungeon. Help.

Lesson learned ... make more saves
as in actual saves and not just the quick save!

If no older saves available ... restart a new game

You have the auto save from when you entered the tomb, don't you?

Make saves all the time with beth games, you cannot trust the autosaves or quicksaves.

That sounds like the "Proving Honor" quest and you are with Farkas not Vilkus.

Video glitches happen in the game all the time when you least expect them. Sometimes you get past it and sometimes you have to go back a save to fix it. It is a great habit to make NEW saves at regular intervals and not keep saving over the last one. This will give you regular intervals that you can go back to in case you run into this sort of thing and get stuck.

Even simple things can get you stuck. Stepping off the side of a stairway and getting caught int eh space between the stairs and wall and then not being able to move, jump or otherwise get yourself out of that spot. A recent save point to go back to solves it quickly and fairly painlessly.

Also a good idea to purge (delete) all your old save games when you are ready to start a new game. No need to keep those old saves anyways.
Documents\games\skyrim\saves\ or something similar should be where your saves are kept.

I'm not going to help you, but you mean Farkas. His name is Farkas.

Yes. I have an awful memory. I think I'll have to go back through the Labarynthian (Gave it my best shot). Thanks.

Just to add my 2 Cents worth .. anytime you have a problem of any kind in Skyrim
Step one ... restart your computer even better is turn it off wait 5 minutes and restart.
(to reset memory hooks ... stop scripts ... whatever)

Step two is sleep for a month so that all of skyrim has reset.
(this gives you the best chance of keeping on playing with whatever stiuation you have going!!)
((ps .. There is a console command that I cannot rememeber that allows time to pass quickly allowing a months sleep to happen in 5 actual minutes)... way cool))

Step 3 pray that the pixies arn't responsible for your glitch

Step 4 enjoy a gooood glass of your favourite drink ... then retry what ever pproblem you were having .... What was it again? :D

Farkas (NOT VILKAS... STUPID ME) vanished when I was in a dungeon after he turned into a werewolf.
I typed "TFC" in the console and I found out what happened! Farkas got stuck in the wall. I'll have to teleport him out of it.
