Lydia´s inventory is GONE
Hey guys,
I was storing a lot of my valuable items in Lydia´s inventory recently. Then I told her to wait for me, after a while she dismissed herself. Now I asked her to follow me again, so I could get my items back, but her inventory is completely gone!
Is there any chance on getting my stuff back?

Lydia didn't want her burden to be a burden?
If it was recently can you load a previous save?
Are you by any chance using EFF? (Extensible Follower Framework). If so this is normal and I can explain how to retrieve the stuff. If not, it's not worth me waffling on about that.

I've got your stuff .... I found Lydia walking home after you dismissed her and we chatted ... anyway, one thing let to another but during the night I awoke early and nicked all her stuff.
She's probably too scared to tell you what happened.

I dont remember when exactly she got dismissed and the saves i´ve checked were without the equipment.

This made me lol.
Okay, if you're using EFF and the stuff was in her "inventory" rather than "Equipment" then this is pretty simple. First, do you have a house with safe storage?

If so, stand by a safe, empty chest in your house. Target it with the cursor as though to open it, but don't open it. Open the EFF MCM and... I don't have EFF installed right now so I forget the exact details, but you're looking for something along the lines of "follower container", you'll know it when you see it. It'll say something like "set container", and if you click on that it'll ask if you want to set the container to the one you're currently targeting. (Roughly speaking, like I say, this is from memory - probably a better explanation on the EFF page, too.) Say yes. All the stuff should now be in this chest.

If you do not have a house with safe storage, well, the best thing is to get some safe storage - the wardrobes in the College of Winterhold (the room you're told is yours to sleep in) are safe storage in vanilla, though it's possible some mods could change that. If you can't, I believe the default container is in the a special cell added by the mod - try

coc followerplugincell

in the console - SAVE FIRST! (Menu save, not quicksave). This should take you to a poky little room with a chest right in front of you (I think there's barrels as well?) Open the chest and take everything. To get out of the cell, you'll need to coc somewhere else - if you look up the location you were previously in you can coc there, otherwise coc Whiterun is usually pretty safe - it just teleports you to the area near the Honingbrew Meadery.
(You can use the second method even if you do have a house with safe storage, but obviously it's a lot more convenient to just change the container to one you own and can access without teleporting to another dimension! Also, I wouldn't put anything directly in the container you use - I don't *think* it'll be deleted but why take the risk? If you have and dismiss more than one follower, all the assorted crap in all their inventories should be put into the same chest with no lost items, though.)
Thanks! That helped :)
Hurrah! I had the same panic the first time I checked the inventory of a follower I'd dismissed with EFF...
