am i exploring the map too early ?
in main quest i reached up until i killed the first dragon and the greybeards called me ..
and i started the companions quest and decided to complete it first

they sent me to save someone from a place on the edge of the map ..

is it ok if i explore huge areas early .. will it be boring later ?

and is there an order for quests ? or you can complete main quests or side quests whenever you want

No. Is not going to be boring later. Exploring from now It's somehow good because you get used to game locations and map.

You can do what you want whenever you want.

Honestly, I prefer to explore before getting too far into any questlines (i.e. main quest, DLC main quests, faction quests, civil war - things that have a series of linked quests, in other words). Maybe pick up a few side quests, probably trigger dragons at some point (after the first dragon, other dragons start appearing).

There's more or less no limit to the order you can do things in - if you want to push through the main quest (or any other questline) as quickly as possible, the game will let you. If you want to find every single map marker and explore every non-quest-locked (see below) location before even touching the main quest or any factions etc, the game will let you do that, too.

If there's a location that you shouldn't be going into without being sent there by a quest, the door will be shown as "locked - needs a key", pretty much. (There are a few very small side quests which may involve a location that isn't 'quest-locked' in this way that can bug out if you go to the location and find a certain quest item before being given the quest, but really the worst that can happen here is you won't be able to finish a very minor side quest and maybe be stuck with something weird in your inventory - quest items cannot be dropped/sold/etc but they are weightless while this is the case, although the UI will list a weight for them).

After I do Riverwood and Whiterun I'm off to see the world the hell with the quests for a long time. I may do a simple quest if its on the way or along the way AND its not a long one, but its still the world to discover. Once I discover ALL the map spots on the mao, I may, I just may start a quest here or there, no guarantees.
That's why I love Skyrim so much!!

Play however you want. That's one of the points of the game.

I don't know about you, but it's what I always do whenever I get a new Bethesda game. I don't even start the main story until I'm at level 50 or so and have most of the map explored.

It's easy to feel scattered and a bit overwhelmed if you pick up every quest available and head to every major city near the beginning of the game. My preferred method is to pick a main city and knock out most the quests in that region before moving on to do the same in another big town. Alternately, doing lots of on-foot exploring and avoiding picking up quests should help fight priority chaos.

After getting thaneship in whiterun I usually get the house in falkreath (I have the DLC) so I have a place to store stuff. I then use the Alchemy/Enchanting cycle to make some good gear and then explore to the mages college and to riften. In the north west of the map is a ruined outpost with only two skeletons guarding a boss chest.
