Skyrim won't change resolution - tried everything
Hey there.
Got myself a 4k monitor so obviously I've tested how Skyrim works in its native resolution. Looks great but fps is not too stable so I'd like to downgrade to QHD or FHD. But I can't. Changing resolutions in launcher doesn't help, changing in SkyrimPrefs.ini doesn't help - it's stuck at 3840x2160.
I'm using a set of mods with SKSE, unofficial patches and some other stuff - not trouble with those.
Any ideas on what I can try would be greatly appreciated.

change your res in C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\SkyrimPrefs.ini file. You can change it to what ever you want.

I did write that changing resolution in SkyrimPrefs doesn't work in my case.

Figured it out after some hours of tweaking.
In case anyone has similar problem - a mod named OneTweak had a setting to force borderless window mode. When a mod has a setting that is also present in default ini files it overwrites them. So the game was stuck in borderless window mode which is by default set to desktop resolution.

I was about to hang myself over this... I had a hunch that something was forcing borderless fullscreen but I never knew OneTweak had this function. May your PC never break

Unfortunately, I have a similar issue, but I don't know that any of my mods are causing it. Every time I bring up the launcher, it pops up the detecting optimal settings, and it constantly makes my resolution 800x450 windowed. Changing it in either the options menu in the launcher or the .ini does nothing, and starting the game with no mods active didn't have an effect either. Any suggestions for what I should try?
edit~ NVM; I was screwing with the wrong .ini, I think. But now it won't save anything.... weee....
