Werewolf Bug ( Solved )

Hello! I'll get to the point.


When my character transforms into a werewolf and then turns back, I am unable to equip chest armor for him. I use Moonlight Tales, if that could affect it. Because frankly, I have no clue how this even started. I've had this problem for months and only just now decided to do something about it.



Help a throne out?


EDIT: Old and buggy game. Creating a new game got rid of it.

I use the latter as well.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by the next question, so I'll just describe it. When I transform back, my werewolf first does a sort of crouching animation as the screen effect appears. Then he's immediately transformed back.


I do have a Succubus Race mod that is overwriting things in ECE, if that could be it. I only use that mod for a follower I have. I play as a Redguard male. ( I much prefer ECE. RaceMenu gave me a seemingly unfixable bug. )


I'm constantly managing my load order with LOOT. Now, I HAVE been told to make the left pane of MO look almost identical to the right pane. ( I think you and a few others told me that )

I should finish doing that. I never got to. :P

Just read this off of Loverslab:


"After attempting the revert to humanistic form, go to console, click on your character and type "showinventory". You should see one of the last things in the inventory is the vampire lord nude skin. Not sure why is not unequipping, but just "removeitem *idnumber* 1"."

I'll get rid of the Succubus Race, I suppose. See if that does it.

Nothing worked. But I found what seems to be causing it. When I do the command "showinventory" on my character, the werewolf "skin" appears in his inventory. I removed it, but then it immediately appeared again. I do have the Unofficial Skyrim Patch Legendary Edition.

ECE is not really compatible with all mods. Crew never was too forthcoming with their sources and that has made making compatibility features for it quite hard. Exactly what bug RaceMenu gave you?

Are you using any custom skeleton and/or animations related to skeleton nodes?

Also, could you post your load order from LOOT? You will get it from top right corner menu, marked with three dots, and paste it directly here.

The bug RaceMenu gave me was essentially my character's entire body just suddenly became full on white. I had no idea why, I uninstalled every single mod but RaceMenu and it was still there. So I switched to ECE. I'll go back to RaceMenu when ECE starts giving me issues. So far, it hasn't. Unless it's absolutely necessary, I'll stick with ECE.


With the bug, I don't think it's ECE. I still had it with RaceMenu for quite a while.


I use the XP32 Maximum Skeleton Extended and I don't think so. What exactly are skeleton animations?

I know, it's a lot. ( I'm not even sure what some of these mods are! ) Especially with the Sexlab mods and Follower mods. ( :3 ) I am cutting down on them, though and it's been improving performance.

I am very much suspecting conflict with Female Werewolf. The latter file has a custom NIF-file and notoriously messed up ESP file. It has popped up before.

I did not spot any other mod that would conflict, though I must admit that I have never tested compatibiltiy features with succubus race. If there is a race conflict, thenI would not know about it.

Other thing that came up is to ask which mod manager you are using?
- If you are using Nexus Mod Manager, then have you allowed ANY mod to overwrite any files from XPMSE?
- If you are using Mod Organizer, then is XPMSE last full mod in your left panel?

Female Werewolf...That IS a mod I've had for a while and so is the bug.


I should've mentioned my manager. My bad. I use Mod Organizer and yes, I ensured quite long ago that XPMSE is the last mod on my left panel.


I'll try getting rid of Female Werewolf.

Speaking of that, your Real Shelter files are in wrong positions. LOOT does not yet place them correctly, so they need to be moved manually.

No progress. I uninstalled Female Werewolf correctly and the "skin" still failed to unequip. It did let me successfully remove it via console, however.

Another problem has risen. Upon transforming back, I lose the "beast form" power. It just fails to appear. I tried adding it from the console and while I get a message that states it's been added, it still doesn't show up.


If you mean that I should move real shelter in the right pane to the correct spot, it won't let me. It keeps snapping back.

You likely have locked your load order. I am not currently home, so I can't check where it can be unlocked.

Did you try this with a new game?

Yep. Skyrim bakes script data to save files. We can remove obsolete entries from the game, but not the script data itself. Even Save Script Cleaner can not do that.

This means that Papyrus will keep checking script entries for removed mods - and causing errors while failing to do so. Also, mods changes without scripts that are not subjects to Skyrim refresh system and/or using vanilla spawns are rarely removed from the game.

Thus, when ever you remove mods that are not pure texture or mesh replacements, relying on vanilla spawns and subjects to Skyrim refresh system, then you pretty much need to start a new game. :/
