i stole this somewhere so dont quote me if it didnt work

"There's a few way that it can be done. It's probably not the quickest way, but here a way I'm most used to.

Open console in game and select the npc by clicking on him/her. Type: SPF npcname

Open CK go to File>data, put a checkmark on skyrim.esm by double clicking on it and Ok and let CK load it. (Do 'yes to all' to any error you receive)

Use object window on your left and browse to Actors>Actor>Preset and double click one of the preset for your race. For example, If you play a Male Nord, doubleclick on NordMalePreset01

Use the small arrows on the top right of the npc window and select Character Gen Parts. In this page you will see a Import button. Click on it and select the file you created ingame with SPF. Then click OK and go to File>Save. Name your new ESP Preset and activate it using your mod manager.

When in game open console and type ShowRaceMenu and change your preset to the new one.

Once that done you can deactivate you Preset.esp "

i had a way how to do it but forgot :/

who make it complicated why don't you. Go into your Save folder in MY Games, select the one you want to save. drag it to desktop. Do Whatever then when you want to use it again drag it back to save folder. Eliminate most of the saves you have been cluttering up the folder with. Then when you start playing again load the one you saved/dragged etc. OK, I forgot there are 2 saves for each level. Look around kind of easy to figure out.

by the way it is always better on the next go round, so I almost never used an old character even though I haved saved some for a week or two.

I'm not sure if it's them or me, but that didn't sound like it answered your question. You can load the old save, then open the console and type "showracemenu" once race menu is open you can select presets, and then save the preset. Exit the game

Start your new game and in the racemenu select presets and "load" you should have your saved character there to use.

You can also get fancy and export the facegen data and a bunch of other stuff I don't really use.

Either reuse the save you made after you exited the cart at Helgen and made your character, or use the mod Race Menu to create a preset of your old character, then load the preset when you exit the cart at Helgen.

To create a preset using the Race Menu mod, load your old save and type showracemenu in console or go to the face scultor in Riften, then open the preset tab in Race Menu and hit F5 or whatever key it is to save your character preset.
