After all this time...
Recently re-installed the game after taking a break for the last two years -- after 200+ hours, I thought I'd seen it all...

Then a courier shows up to tell me about an inheritence I've received, something I've never seen before. Apparently, Fastred was killed in Ivarstaad (sp?) -- doesn't tell me who or how, though I'm suspecting vampire raids, as they're hitting Riverwood quite a bit now. TBH, I feel a bit responsible though, as I convinced her to stay in town during the whole MARA-quest deal... ***sigh***

Anyways, just felt surprised enough by this game after all this time to 'spew' my love for it once more :P

Also, would be really cool if there was a mod that could tell you who kills these 'friends' in the inheritence letter, so you could drop a little vengeance down on them :)

In my experience, half the time it's (accidentally) me, or otherwise a dragon or troll or something (Ivarstead is quite vulnerable to troll attacks as there's one living a very short distance outside town... Usually the cheerful Bosmer fellow who's talking to Klimmek when you first visit the town dies in my game :(

Better a short life with Klimmek than a potentially slightly longer one (though there's still vampires...) in Riften with that awful Bassianus guy, though.

By accidentally, do you mean you murdered them, but then you find out they randomly left you money?

No, I mean there was a fight (dragons or whatnot) and I accidentally hit them (but no guards were around for a bounty or whatnot). I hardly ever murder people.

Yeah, I'm about 2000 hours in and still coming across things and places I've never stumbled on before - it's less often now, but it still happens. (Usually leads to me going "wait, what mod is this from? It's VANILLA?!?!")

yeah, I think it was just 200+, maybe a bit more, but unfortunately Steam doesn't 'remember' old game-time if you uninstall and then re-install -- so I guess I'm still a "whelp" :P

That's the main reason I even talked about this, I totally thought this was the result of one of the many mods I've installed, until I checked the wiki :)

who is klimmek supposed to eat his fish with now? Someone please think of Klimmek.

wait until you kill a friend, get thugs set after you for doing so and get an inheritance. triple win.
