What's the point of renting a room?
I'm currently in Morthal and I just slept in an open bed thats available in the Morthal Inn without even renting a room. Am I missing something? Is there any way to disable something like this as I find renting a room pointless, especially when I installed a mod to increase room renting costs, etc.

Answers appreciated.

It could be a bug or glitch
Do you have Skyrim unofficial patch mod?

You have to own or rent a room to get the Well Rested perk.

I do you use USLEEP. It's nothing game breaking just unforutnate. I don't really need the well rested perk as I use iNeed and use Inns to get the necessary sleep. I tried looking it up, no results honestly. Maybe it's an issue some people don't care for :/

Bump. Is this just a minor issue with the Inn in Morthal? I havn't played the game much since I completely overhauled it with mods. It's great fun and I'm fortunate enough with all mods I got installed that this turns out to be my issue. I'm just curious if theres any fixes or if anyone aside from me is aware of this.

this is not a vanilla game issue. It is your (as you say) completely overhauled game with mods.

I just checked.

Possibly I guess, but I don't know what mod would affect it :/

It seems like such an odd issue..

Well after further research it seems this IS a bug.
Source: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Moorside_Inn
It's clearly stated under the bugs section: "The second room on the left after entering contains an unowned bed and dresser. The bed can be slept in without paying for the night."

Hopefully the modders of USLEEP are aware of this, if not hopefully someone can address it to them..

And even after further reasearch and checking USLEEP'S changelog there seems to be zero fixes to this issue. :/

now i am all messed up. according to uesp it is also listed as unowned in the description but starting a new game with no mods not even the patches and using coc I went there. nope still owned.

checking the ck skyrim.esm and then with the update both times the bed is owned by jobinnkeeper faction. so yes it is owned.

i am so confused. alot tired so maybe I am not seeing something I should but for me it is owned. and I can not sleep there even unmodded

of course I just checked this link and it lists the bug as a 360 and ps3 bug and not PC
360 PS3 The second room on the left after entering contains an unowned bed and dresser. The bed can be slept in without paying for the night.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Moorside_Inn
The second bedroom consists of a single unowned bed in the southern corner, a round wooden table and chair next to it and a dresser against the southwest wall holding four common books and inside a basket is a copy of the Restoration skill book Racial Phylogeny.

Nothing about being able to sleep in it though. I know I am being a little uptight about this but I remain firm in thinking it is a mod you have installed. OMG i truelly am a nerd.

This isn't necessarily answering your question, but just as a note: Skyrim is great with immersion/survival mods. Realistic Needs is a great one that requires regular sleep, food, and water. Cold and Wet adds to this as well, and so does Frostfall. I almost forgot how useless sleep (besides the one perk) and food were in vanilla Skyrim, but the game is much much more fun when these things all matter. A bed, a warm fire, and food are a life saver after a long trip (I'm choose to not use fast travel).

What did that have to do with anything lol? I said in one of my previous comments I use Ineed. listen I'm grateful for all the responses i've gotten, but what you said kind of made no sense to what we're talking about..

Anyway I decided to just manually remove or set the ownership to the bed to an NPC via console. It's an easy fix and I don't know what I could've thought about it sooner aside from crying on the forums. Anyway thanks guys for all your help, it means alot!
