2h flops stars is only need then you can handle yourself, and yes it was a joke the 2h follower dont do much damage as you do if you are 2h.
ps.
dont forget there is so many mods that change combat styles, that this impact gameplay and what they can and how good they are. but the orginal game 2h is worst follower
Vilkas - max level 50, can be married.
Ingjard - introduced in Dawnguard add on, has no max level, cannot be married.
Stenvar - mercenary, max level 40, can be married.
Ahtar - you have to complete "Kill the bandit leader" mission to recruit him, max level 30, cannot be married.
Benor - you have to complete "Fight! Fight!" mission to recruit him, max level 30, can be married.
Mjoll the Lioness - you have to complete "Grimsever's Return" mission to recruit her, max level 40, can be married.
So, concluding, Ingjard is your best choice if you own Dawnguard, if not, Vilkas is a great choice too. The rest won't be useless, but the level cap can become noticeable once you reach a higher level yourself.
