Best follower?
I want a new follower that specialises in heavy armour and maybe 2 handed. Which is the best for this?

that depend on your own class, if you are a mage then you do need a tank in front.

2h flops stars is only need then you can handle yourself, and yes it was a joke the 2h follower dont do much damage as you do if you are 2h.

ps.
dont forget there is so many mods that change combat styles, that this impact gameplay and what they can and how good they are. but the orginal game 2h is worst follower

Vilkas, Ingjard, Stenvar, Ahtar, Benor, Mjoll the Lioness would be your best choices. They all are similar, but have some differences you should know about before deciding to make one your main follower:
Vilkas - max level 50, can be married.
Ingjard - introduced in Dawnguard add on, has no max level, cannot be married.
Stenvar - mercenary, max level 40, can be married.
Ahtar - you have to complete "Kill the bandit leader" mission to recruit him, max level 30, cannot be married.
Benor - you have to complete "Fight! Fight!" mission to recruit him, max level 30, can be married.
Mjoll the Lioness - you have to complete "Grimsever's Return" mission to recruit her, max level 40, can be married.
So, concluding, Ingjard is your best choice if you own Dawnguard, if not, Vilkas is a great choice too. The rest won't be useless, but the level cap can become noticeable once you reach a higher level yourself.
You can find detailed info about all the followers here[www.uesp.net].

If you have mods
'Ashara Erin and Sienna Followers'. Both Erin and Anja are 2H blade girls and they can be upgraded in weapons and armour.

I'll probably just go with Ingjard because she has no max level

I love the teamwork you have to put on higher difficulties and with a mod to have more followers you can have a old school rpg party to tackle any content.
