Mod-added horse stable?
I'm wondering if there are any mods out there that let you add a functional stable wherever you want it. I'm using a mod-added player home (Cliffside Cottage) and it comes with a two-stall stable but it doesn't actually work... I can't get the horses to go in there, and if they do go in, closing the gate won't actually *keep* them in there. Is there a mod to add a stable that actually keeps your horses inside?? (compatible with Convenient Horses, hopefully)

Well, mods that have working stables in them definitely exist. There's one that adds stables tot he minor settlements, house mods that have their own working stables, etc. But a mod that adds an arbitrary stable to arbitrary locations is a different matter. I suppose it's possible to create one, however.

Yeah the only option for you is to copy and paste a stable in the creation kit to where you want it and im no expert but there is a way to make it function but i have no idea how

You could always use open citys if you wanted to lose 20/30 fps

Would it not be possible to just kind of guide them into a suitable location (inside or just next to the stable, I suppose) and tell them to wait with the Convenient Horses follow/wait hotkey? That usually makes them stay put, in my experience (although I suppose if you go away for a while and come back they may not still be in the same place, but AFAICR that's true of leaving them by a vanilla stable without CH, too?

Depending if there's space behind the stable, you might also be able to sort of reverse-shepherd them into the stable by telling them to follow and then dancing around behind the stable... Or, you know, it might go horribly wrong...

Yeah I wish I knew how to create mods, then I could build it myself.

The wait function does work, but only with the horse you're currently using. When you have more than one, the ones you're not using are *supposed* to go back and hang out wherever you planted the herd flag... but I'm having an issue where all the horses keep following me lol.

Ah, damn, I've rarely had more than one "real" horse (as opposed to the ones that followers magically obtain via CH) so I don't know much about how those are handled, sorry!

I'm interested in what you mena by a "functional" stable? in my experience with the game the only time a horse will actually sandbox inside any of the stables is after you buy one from your steward, but before you actually ride one. After that it's get close and dismount. You can whistle for your horse while standing in the back of the stable and they'll more or less walk in, but that won't help with the hearding issue.

You could try this: Convenient Horse Herding[www.nexusmods.com], which is by the same author as Convenient Horses and should, I think (based on a quick read of the description, do make sure to read it thoroughly before installation and back up your saves/test that it does what you want it to do before carrying on playing normally) be compatible with CH.

avrie05 - Yeah I guess I'm dissatisfied with the vanilla stables. I want something I can put my horses in that'll close and keep them in.

gnewna - I actually have both CH and CHH, but I'm having an issue where I can't get my horses to stay by the herd flag. I want them to stop following me, lol.

Sounds like you have the heard master setting turned on. From the reading on the mod page that's an option they intended ... but they don't have to follow. You're supposed to be able to turn it on and off. Check your MCM.

As for the stable. Do you have a location in mind? You're sort of treading on something that's been bothering me since I started using horses in game. I could almost talk myself into creating a huge stable you can ride into and then dismount in ... adding a gate shouldn't be an issue, but even if it only had three stalls it would be pretty stinking big. I'm really not sure how big the "rooms" would have to be, so where becomes an important issue.

I might be able to come up with a stable replacement for the hearthfires homes ... not sure until I build the building.

I don't see the MCM for CHH, only for regular CH :/ I uninstalled and reinstalled both mods today, and there's no difference, except that i seem to have lost two of my horses >.<

Well I'd like to put it somewhere near my house, which unfortunately doesn't have a lot of flat space surrounding it, as it's name implies (Cliffside) but I could be flexible with the size/how close to the house it is. If there was some way for the player to place it where they want (like what Hearthfire Extended does with furniture, or what Campfire does with campsites, though I imagine a stable would be more complicated) that'd be ideal.

No, unfortunately I would have to actually build a stable at the location. it's not a drop in place kind of thing like a chest. Let me look a bit and get back to you.

Okiedokie thanks :)

I have to download the mod and play a bit. Of course there's no pictures of the stable or the surrounding area, but seeing as there's already a two stall stable. Maybe I can just make it bigger so you can dismount inside ??? I also found a mod called immersive stables that adds pretty large stables to the back of all of the inns. Not exactly a fix for you, but may be something you might want to look at.

I did check out immersive stables, but that's not really related to the issue I have. Could be a nice touch now that I'm using Frostfall though, so it doesn't feel like I'm leaving my horse out in the cold.

I'm also considering uninstalling CH/CHH and replacing it with Immersive Horses, as it seems to do some of the same things and maybe it'll work better for me if I can't fix my CH issue.
