Does anyone know anything about this letter?

So i was visiting Markarth and having a chat with Ondolemar. After I got tired of his BS i attacked him. But my Ebony mail triggered three guards to attack me. After i killed the elves I payed off my bounty and shortly after received a letter from Omluag(breton that works at the smelter) that he liked what I did and i should meet with him, but when I talk to him there is no mention of this letter. A made a quick google search but found nothing usefull, not even on the Wiki. So if anyone knows anything about this I would be very gratefull for your help.

TL;DR Do you know anything about the letter from Omluag, when you kill Ondolemar.

hmm could be a random thing had it once killed a thief for no reason and I got a letter from someone ... turns out he wanted that I attack someone. names do not matter could be a random thing.

Nothing about it on these pages so it must be from a mod.
Try droping the letter then select it in the console and see what mod it is from.

It's vanilla http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Request_from but presumably somewhat randomised/chance-based (my guess is that it's triggered if the NPC you attacked has an 'enemy' i.e. someone with a low relationship in the game's code - which, well, it's Ondolemar, I imagine he has plenty) so it wouldn't show up on those particular NPCs' pages.

Ah, here we go, the Lesser Wiki for once has a bit more detail http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Letter_from_-NPC-_(Request) it's supposed to lead to a quest where the sender wants you to rough someone else up, but I've a feeling I've seen other people say it doesn't, so I'm not sure if it sometimes does or if it's bugged.

Right, looked up the quest on the Better Wiki http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Scare_my_Enemy Try dropping the letter, opening it and taking it.

You beat someone up, someone heard about your willingness to do violence, they want to hire you to hurt someone. Seems pretty cut and dried to me.

I know I'm late to the party, but I found this graph the explains all the relationships with th epeople of Skyrim. Basically if you want to find out why they sent that letter, look through this graph and it will tell you if He/She were Friends/Acquaintances/Rivals with the person you killed.
