I have a glitch with the Honorhall Orphanage. (Or it may not be)

I killed Grelod at the very begining of the game and didn't think much of it then. But then later I wanted to adopt and I went there and the woman was saying that there was not going to be any adoptions right now. So I left and a little later I googled if you were supposed to be able to adopt afterwards, it said that the kid who asked you to kill Grelod would go back after awhile and a courier would come tell you that the orphanage was under new managment and you would be able to adopt. Again, I was like "Ok, I'll wait." I've been playing for a few months now (in real time) and no couriers have come to tell me about the orphanage and I still can't adopt when I go there. I'm just wondering if my game is broken or I'm just not being patient.

Have you spoken with Avenus Aretino in Windhelm? Do that. Then tell him what he wants to hear.

THEN wait patiently for the courier. (Actually 2 couriers)

I have spoken to Avenus, he gave me his family token or whatever it's called and he said "I'm going to clean up here." And then he never left, I've gone back multiple times and he says the same thing.

yes, i dont know what to tell you though as the dark brotherhood is always the first thing i do, the second being the whole thing with kids, i have a house built a bedroom (a proper one) and a chest are required (with 1 or 2 childrens beds) if you use a haethfire home, if you dont have hearth fire obvoisly it wont work :b and i would also advise having a spouse and a house carl. i like shavee i think her name is (havent played in half a year i think)

Ok, well your done then. Just be patient and 'eventually' whatshername will become headmistress of the orphanage.

If you are just looking for adoption, most major hold capitals have orphans wandering around to adopt.

I have houses and a spouse and a childrens room, it may just be a glitch and I could force adpot or get a mod, but when I first started a used the console for random things (not specifically this quest) but I might've bugged it. Also, just my opinion, but you should play again, and I challenge you to do EVERY quest in the game. Haha
