Does +% Sneak skill help at sneak skill lvl 100?
Title. Is there ever a point at which you should stop stacking skill bonuses? When do they stop if ever?

My understanding is an unmodded game no, no point at 100, however there are some mods that add advantages to skills over 100.

if it get at or over sneak level 100 then there is really no reason to, nothing can detect you now when sneaking, but if you had the TESredone mod then the skill trees have skills that go over level 100, so you could keep stacking if you wanted.

So since I'm a lvl 100 in sneak..there's no point in gloves that give me 20% sneaking bonus?
Danish 2016 年 6 月 27 日 下午 12:17
If I understand what you're asking, yes it still does.
Just like if you make gloves that improve your smithing, it'll still be better than the base stats at 100.

No reason to throw away good items though; A good use for such items after leveling up:

Reset the Sneak tree a lot as Legendary? Carry enchanted items and cloth outfits; use them when your stats are bottomed out again. Wear fewer as your Sneak level goes up.

Edit: Find an enemy that can detect, save game, test gear for proper balance. I tend to only put one point in Stealth, not 5/5. Items take care of the rest.

So you're saying that a +20% sneak pair of gloves will still give me benefit even though my sneak is at lvl 100. Other people seem to be saying otherwise.

Enchanted items do NOT mess up with skill.
Bonuses always work, only some can't be stacked (if none).

Your ability to pass the stealthing check is a moving target, which is influenced by enemies and their stats, so just test it. I'm only at Sneak 100 for a few moments due to flipping it over constantly, but my guess is they still help.

You may not notice 20%, but if you grab a bunch of Peerless 40% or custom enchanted gear, like Ring, Necklace, Hand and Boot (may need Muffle on boot instead, depends on situtation), then test the level of darkness, shadows, range, speed that you creep, your Muffle, LOS, enemy type, enemy level, Sneak points (15-100 of 100), and Stealth rating (1-5 of 5), then you will figure out how many bonuses to use.

The real problem is being so OP, that it is like being invisible. It is more fun if balanced where the enmies can detect in a bright area or direct LOS.

Check out the wiki for a few things to be aware of, http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Sneak_(Skyrim):

Example:
Similar to the pickpocket bug, wearing equipment with Fortify Sneak enchantment may lower sneaking success when at or near the cap for this skill.

Fixed in patch 1.3.

Wat... that is far too much effort for a non-competitive rpg just to figure out bonus stat effects.

It isn't like you have to do each of those variables 10 times or anything, just boost boni, try, if fail, add more for the next enemy. All those variables could have an effect though, so just be aware of them.

Currently I'm in Kilkreath:
Sneak 95/100, Stealth 1/5, 1 Muffle, 3 Sneak Fort., Larm = Failure
95/100, 1/5, 1 Muffle, 4 Sneak Fort., Cloth = Success (if careful)
stcaFylnO 2016 年 6 月 28 日 下午 2:29
Seems like proof enough:

There was an enemy that I could not sneak with 97/100 Sneak, 5/5 Stealth, 1 Muffle Perk, 1 Silence Perk, 4 Sneak item enchants, 1 Muffle item ecnchant, 1 Muffle spell, and Cloth; I then combined everything with a Potion of Fortify Sneak and was successful.

I tried replacing the enchanted items with the potion and it failed, so the instance required both together.

The NPC kept stating that he "heard" something, but really he was "seeing". Much less bonuses were successful with inviso.

Some you alls "proof" could be total bs because we have no "proof " that you're not a total moron trying to sneak in broad daylight in front of 20 people.

My "proof" is that around 80 sneak and a muffle enchant and there hasn't been a single thing in the game that's been able to find me even when alerted ( just chill a moment and the eye closes without ever being discovered)

The instances people have to en here are not proof of anything but opinions, get the creation kit out and look at the code etc surrounding the sneak mechanism and read how the many sneak overhauls change s working and you'll be able to see that sneak over 100 does nothing.

Well, that is why I said "Seems like proof enough". Thanks for looking in the code and correcting me.

Edit: Oh, I thought crgzero actually looked in the code, never mind.

The deal is that an enemy's Sneak skill increases their chance of detecting you. Something like a Falmer Warmonger or Legendary Dragon for eg is much harder to dance around at close range than something like a Draugr. Sneak bonuses certainly work when your skill's at 100 (ditto for crafting bonuses when those are at 100), but whether you want or even need them to evade your enemies depends on the particular enemy you're talking about.

Note, on the other hand, that the Silence perk obsoletes Muffle, and by extension makes your choice of armour completely irrelevant to stealth checks.

Stealth checks are performed by the game itself. Why on earth would you expect that code to exist within the Creation Kit?
