Ring of Hircine not working!
So...here's my situation. I helped Sinding out with his hunter problem, got the ring uncursed, equipped it, moved on over to the "Powers" selection to see if the Ring of Hircine power was there...and it was not.

I waited, reset, dropped the ring, re-equipped the ring, deleted the ring, respawned the ring...nothing. No power. I am indeed a lycanthrope with Beast Blood, so it SHOULD be working, right?

I assume this has something to do with a script error or something, so is there a way for me to reset the Ring of Hircine script so that it works again, or is my save entirely borked?

See:

If you are not a werewolf, you do not recieve that power; if you are, and are still not seeing that power, then there is either a bug of some sort, or a possible mod conflict - if this is the case, unfortunately I will not be able to help, but others may.

I am indeed a werewolf. I did have a mod called "Unified Beast Power" that was supposed to merge Ring power and Beast power into one ability, and it did work...but I found it was kind of lore-breaking so I uninstalled it completely. There should be no residual side effects, as far as I know.

Uninstalling certain mods mid game is not a good idea, as scripts are baked into the save, possibly causing bugs or breaking the game. Don't know if this is causing your problem, but it is possible. You might want to load a save from before you installed that mod, just to see - if you are able to get the power then, it's likely that uninstalling the mod broke that utility.

...Ya know what? I'm a dink. I think I accidentally used mods that were incompatible. Sooo...yyyeah, gonna take yer advice and see if it works. Thanks!

That happens. Hope you get it working!

Sorry to hear that. Hope someone else has an idea that will help. Wish you good luck!

It may well be that the same effect which is hiding the ring power is also continuing to rig things so that the normal beast power can be used multiple times a day.
mistershoebox Jun 22, 2016 @ 5:16pm
Tried that, too. "Powers can only be used once a day."

Did you try waiting a day, don't think it ever affected me that way at begining of getting the ring but with mods, mod deletion mid game, who knows.

Yup. I did indeed. Nuthin'.

Try dropping the ring and targetting it with MFG Console active. This may reveal a mod as the culprit.

how do you use it ?

Console is opened by hitting ~, on most keyboards. You then simply click on the item you want more information about (hence why you have to drop the ring into the world). With MFG installed, relevant plugins are named down the lower right of the display.
