Fresh install of skyrim won't launch
I recently downloaded and freshly reinstalled skyrim and it won't launch at all. I press play and it brings up the steam, preparing to launch window which then goes away and nothing else happens.
As i say this is a completely fresh download and install with no mods or anything else added and i even deleted it again and downloaded again because when i try to verify the game it keeps telling me one file was broken and needs to be reacquired and this is straight after the fresh download and install.

Also when trying to launch from the start menu i get the window error code,
SkyrimLauncher.exe - Application error
This application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005)

This code is a bit pain to solve. It is usually related to how you have managed Windows and it's registry, or points to corrupted files. There may also be other reasons, like missing files that game looks for.

Let's first make sure that this error is not caused by Steam itself. Try this.

Refresh Your Steam Files Steam Support
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3134-TIAL-4638&l=english

If that does not help, then make sure that your Visual C++ is up to date. You can download most up to date version freely from Microsoft Support page.

If neither helps, then use free version of CCleanter - or any other registry cleaning tool you trust - to clean your Windows registry from obsolete entries. If you are unsure what you are doing in this step, then step over it for now.

If none of that helps, then we need to know which version of Windows you are using and if you did clear your registry from obsolete entries.

Tried these suggestions and it didn't work but i found another guide by yourself http://steamcommunity.com/app/72850/discussions/0/535150948617437868/
Which seems to have solved it.
Although i followed all steps it seems to have been the appcach folder which was the problem as i had tried the other parts previously to no avail.

As a little extra note which may be important this started after downloading the HD texture pack and the game currently works without the pack downloaded so i am going to try install the HD texture pack again and see if it still works (fingers crossed).

Thanks for your help :)

This worked for me! I had tried everything and couldn't find a solution until now. Thank you so much.

Steam have had some problems lately, so my trigger finger has been toward registry and VC++, when problems like this pop up. Good to hear that validating files with cleared appcache solved it directly. That does not always happen.

Good that it helped.

Have fun, both of you. :)
