Starting a new game, does it delete the old game?
What is says above. I want to keep my old game, but I want to start a new one at the same time.

Just make a hard save ... even better ... a named save and you should be OK to go back to it.
Of course it all depends if you have mods or not.
You can still do it with mods if you use MO (Mod Organizer) profiles

No, just save it in a new slot. The save file tells you the name of the character. so you can keep track of your saves. Unfortunately, there is no save management in the game, could have been useful.

I don't use mods.

But the question was, will my old save be there if I were to start a new game? I will still do the hard save, but Is the question asked possible

keep that save.

saves do not delete allowing a multitued of different characters and stages of games.

achievements do not stack though. collecting 5 daedric artifacts on 1 character and the rest on another do not give you the daidric achievement

So both characters will still be there, correct?

Yes, but your auto and quick saves will be overwritten, but you shouldn't be relying on those anyway.

Yes, I have several characters at the same time. Every save has the character name shown when you load the page. If you are so unsure, backup your savegame directory.

i think you should install the main menu mod
this install a better 60fps main menu who will take your saves by characters so it's more easy to load the save/character that you want to play with
It's an epic mod
The mod : http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/64948/?

Autosaves will be overwritten. Manual saves will not be overwritten. You will want to create a manual save for the old character to preserve their game, if you haven't done so already.
What I do is I type "save <Save name>" in the console, it creates a save which never gets auto deleted.
