Problem with Daedric Gauntlet quest

[Blaze ♥♥♥♥♥♥]

The quest is called Forgotten Names. It's activated by placing four rings on a Daedric Gauntlet inside Midden Dark beneath the College of Winterhold. I got all the four rings but I can't place them on the gauntlet. Every time I approach it, it says "Activate Finger" but when I press the use key nothing happens.

I did, I've been trying everything - it doesn't work.
is that a glitch of some sort?

I just scrounged the UESPwiki. your bug was mentioned but no solution given. in which case it would be best to reload an older save.

I even reset the chest (since I had it picklocked earlier just to see what's inside) - doesn"t work.

reload an older save? what do you mean? can't i just use console command to start the quest?

there is no such thing as <just> use a console command. if you really want to: read the Wiki first to see if they have one. just keep in mind that console commands can make things worse.

oh, ♥♥♥♥ - i ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up with console commands.
Now i got the ring placement table on permanently and I can't do nothing
How do I get rid of this?

ofc, I deleted corrupted saves and it's all good now
but I had a thu'um earned in the last save - now I feel sick when I think of the grind I have to go through again.
