Fortify Smithing potion not working?
I created a fortify smithing potion that boosts improvement of weapons and armor by 25%. I went to a workbench to see what my hardened falmor armor would improve to which was from 80 to 92. I used the potion and went back into the workbench and it said the improvement was from 80 to 92. What is going on?

prob potion expired - the time still flows even when you are dawdling in the smithing menus so be fast or it will expire and you will gain nothing from it (the same aplies to enchanting.

It is a 30 second long potion. When I exited the workbench I checked my active effects, it said it still had 15 seconds left.

What 'level' of smithing (like, flawless, legendary etc) did it say? It may be that you've reached the max that the hardened falmer armour can be improved to?

Thats why you use enchanting instead of potion.

Have you got the Advanced Armours perk?

No

Yeah, in that case that's probably just the maximum you can improve it without the perk - once you get that perk, you should be able to improve it a bit more (according to the wiki, anyway, that's the appropriate perk for that armour set.)

Thanks, I totally forgot about that perk after years of not playing. Hopefully it works.

25% may not be enough to incress armor rating. The actual armor rating has a cap but the number you see incresses indefiniyly. My armor rating says 5 digits but I use the alchemy enchanting loop.
