Nightingale muffle not working?
Only 1 perk in Sneak. (20% less detection)

Invisible stealth approach from behind on Briarheart (to pickpocket the heart):

No muffle spell, using the muffled boots -> he detects me when I approach him, making me unable to pickpocket him.

Using muffle spell, using the muffled boots -> he does not detect me, and I'm able to steal the heart.

Isn't the Nightingale Muffle supposed to be 100%? I've done some research and everyone says it's 100% muffle and the value is 35.0, beating the supposed 1.0 muffle spell. Yet, the spell seems more effective?

Is this a bug or am I missing something? I've already tried reloading and also re-equipping, etc

(Not using any mod that messes up with the detection system or game mechanics in such a way to affect this, unofficial patch could be the only problem, if so)

Nightingale boots are not 100% muffle. They are .75 at the highest level with the Unofficial patch.

You'll need to enchant your own or get the Predator's Grace boots for 100%

Should've done it like the game THIEF - Moss Spread for muffle, water arrows, etc...

The Nightingale Boots are a leveled item.

If you don't acquire them at level 32 or greater, you don't get full muffle effect. And yes, it is 35.0, Rez should learn how to open the Creation Kit before spreading misinformation.

Then it's probably bugged? I have acquired it around level 40-45 (proof of it for me is the other pieces values, illusion 17%, one handed 25% etc)

That was probably a mistake by Bethesda, a value of 35 in meaningless, nothing past 1 does anything. That said both me and the OP are using the unofficial patch which changes the boots to a magnitude of .75 so they are still not muffled completely.

I have edited my first post to reflect this information.

Ah I see, yet another completely unnecessary and largely undocumented "balance" change implemented by what should be nothing but bugfixes yet continues to actually make arbitrary decisions about what the game should be, aka Arthmoor's unofficial patch. Yes, I can see it is indeed 0.75% muffle in USSEP.

And my "making USSEP be only a bugfix patch" mod grows by one more entry. :steambored:

Yeah, that kind of stuff is extremely annoying from this patch...
