Soul Trapping Someone in Sovngarde
So I just got into Sovngarde to kill Alduin and of course that stormcloak guy runs up to you and then you can guide him through Alduin's mist (the "soul snare"). Well he suddenly he stopped following me and I got a little annoyed so I thought "wait, can I kill him?". One greathammer swing to his head and a successful soul trap sound effect later I realized you CAN kill him. So not only can you kill someone in Sovngarde but you can SOUL TRAP them as well. What the hell happens to someone's soul who was already in Sovngarde but got soul trapped? I don't think I should have been able to even hurt him, let alone kill him.

You can soul trap souls from other planes of Oblivion too and it won't matter. (Soul trapping seekers and lurkers in Apocrypha for example)

You basically removed him from his comfotrable afterlife and put him into a limbo full of lost souls.. ouch.

Lol He probably went to another after life. You took him away from the place every true Nord wants to go and now he's somewhere else. Maybe your Great Hammer?

Yeah, that was pretty messed up but then again my character is a proud Imperial so imagine how mad Ulfric would be if he found out I killed and soul trapped a Stormcloak soldier in Sovngarde, lol. Anyways if you played the Dawnguard DLC fully at least once you know where the souls of soul trapped humans go. I still am not sure the specifics of that though. Like does their soul get sent the Soul Cairn immediately after they're soul trapped? Probably not because I remember hearing or reading that Necromancers bargain with the Ideal Masters for powerful conjuration magic (like raising undead and summoning daedra) but I think that goes for enchanting too? Maybe not though. So when I use a black soul gem to enchant something I wonder what happens then. I feel like Septimus Sigmus spouting all these ideas, lol.
In case you don't know who I'm talking about here you go. He's part of the main quest in a way though so most people know him.

They go to Super Sovngarde when they die. It's like this clip, but more Nord: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItPDoHk1Ifk&t=0m52s

Lmao. Sounds good to me. If in Sovngarde you're always feasting, drinking mead, and sparring with your fellow Sovngarde companions then Super Sovngarde must be full of over the top badass nord things. Idk, riding some atronach bear while, drinking heavenly mead while beautiful nordic battke maidens cheer you on. Something like that but even more Nordic, lol.

FYI Ysgramor actually rode a storm atronach BEAR into battle when fighting off all those snow elves after the "Night of Tears". It mentions it here: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Ysgramor
If only we had more options for the types of atronachs we could conjure (without mods). Imagine doing mounted combat with a storm atronach bear, and if it got surrounded by enemies it would release a huge AOE of lighting to back them off. Also today I learned that Yngol was Ysgramor's son (we visit Yngol's Barrow in the game, fight him in draugr form, and then get his helm). I can't believe I didn't know that until now.

Good point. I've soul trapped many Lurkers and Seekers in Apocrypha during previous playthroughs. If only we could see non-human creatures in the Soul Cairn since many of them have been soul trapped over time. Then maybe a npc could give us some lore about non-humans getting soul trapped. I know we can see a cow in the Soul Cairn. Idk why that one specific cow's soul was actually brought over to the Soul Cairn, lol.

As for that stormcloak soldier, I really tried to help him at first but my character is level 81 (almost level 82). I'm far beyond roleplaying as a "good guy" like I was earlier on in the game. Now he's just like this godlike being that is a expert mage and warrior (every school of magic is at 100, enchanting is at 100, heavy armor and two-handed is at 100, light armor and one handed weapons are at around 60 iirc). In the early game I roleplayed as a "paladin" but now I'm just doing whatever I can to become stronger. Basically anything that gets in my way is going to die :steammocking:. I still haven't even started the Dawnguard or Dragonborn (Solstheim) DLC. By the time I get to Arch-Curate Vyrthur, Karstaag and Miraak I might be level 100+. Should be interesting since Miraak can scale all the way up to level 150 and as far as I know Karstaag is always level 90.

He got sent to the Soul Cairn. Hopefully I spelled that locations name right.
On another note Bethesda needs more Storm Atronoch Bear mounts in their games lol.

A little offtopic from me but:
but heh that's interesting path of Paladin going to the dark side.
In my current playthrough its quite the opposite.

My character started out on a very misguided path as a thief and assassin doing everything to gain wealth at the cost others. Quickly gained power and wealth through mischief and mastery of Illusion he became unstoppable. I'm 64 level i own all homes in skyrim, thane in every hold the very holds i sworn to protect i rob and kill people there and no one can do anything about it to stop me aswell i have so much riches i can throw gold and gems at my problems.

I'm slowly changing my playstyle and roleplay as time goes on through events of main quest and dawnguard my character will realize that his current path leads to nothing but ruin that all this power comes with a cost of his humanity.

I'm planning Dragonborn questline to be my main point of catharsis where i afterwards seek redemption for my actions and change from a selfish assassin / thief into someone more resembling a Paladin.

Roleplay is part of the fun in this game am i right? ^^

Nice! That's really cool. It's hard to roleplay properly in Skyrim (depending on what you're roleplaying as) but it definitely makes the game way more fun. Also with mods your roleplaying can go pretty far. I used to have this religion mod installed but I uninstalled it after realizing I angered Kyne somehow (probably just for killing a bear or a spriggan...lol) and she put a curse on me to atone for my sin(s). The curse was like minus 200% stamina regen or something like that. I uninstalled the mod after that because I didn't feel like dealing with that debuff but even after I uninstalled it my stamina wouldn't regen so I had to delete that character. It sucked but it was new character so I didn't mind starting over again.

Anyways here's that religion mod I mentioned: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/67663/
You can even worship a daedric lord if you're roleplaying that type of character. Idk what happens after you pledge yourself to them but I bet it's a bit risky, haha. Maybe i'll try that mod again one of these days. After all you only get that curse applied to you if you accept it (so you can use that shrine again after your curse is lifted in a few days).

Oh that mod looks interesting.
I bet it would synergize well with a mod that adds survival elements.
Imagine worrying about food , water , deadly diseases and not freezing to death AND on top of that being careful to not anger any divines or daedras or they will slap curses on you ^^

Hardcore..

Yeah that'd be insane. I've never been a fan having to worry about basic survival needs in a game that doesn't have that mechanic in the first place though. Like i've never played hardcore mode in Fallout New Vegas. Maybe one day I will though (if I could ever get FONV working properly again). For Skyrim though I could just say that the Dragonborn doesn't need to eat or stay hydrated like a normal human, lol.

Ah to each his own i love micromanaging stuff like that ^^
New Vegas survival was my favorite thing. Fallout 4 one is not bad too but needs some work with mods to make it shine.
