What is your choice of armor skill ?
Deathbrand is light armor while Dragonbone is heavy... not the same thing.

once you reach the armor cap, it really does not matter what you wear. so go for looks

My favorit armor is that white ancient falmer armor from dawnguard. The one on the end of the auriels bow quest from that vampire white elf 'boss'

Once I can forge it, I actually prefer Dragonscale armor.

Wear one set, see what your armor rating is, then switch and check the other out.

it isnt

In terms of heavy armor defensive values, daedric trumps everything.

Only use deathbrand if you crafting skills are pathetically low. Late game you can make 43-70% enchantments on armor. If you go a Breton start magic and elemental resistance is not a problem. If going necromage + vampirism your weapon imporovements can be +87% when equiped. Also will you be using both bow and 1h weapons in equal measure. Increased health and stamina regen rate is often better than increased capacity.
