Anuriel not selling Honeyside
I've just completed the skooma quest for Riften's Jarl Laila, and when I asked her what else I can do for Riften she offered me Thaneship of Riften, conditional upon my buying Honeyside from Anuriel. The quest marker hovers over Anuriel now, but she does not have any dialogue option on buying Honeyside. I don't remember this happening in my previous playthroughs, although it's been a year or so since my last character. Does anyone have a workaround for this? I never visited Honeyside prior to earning Thaneship, and I've helped more than 5 people in the Rift (which is why Laila offers me the Thaneship) but her steward just won't have the selling dialogue. I don't have any mods which affect Riften or Mistveil Keep. I also had no problems purchasing Windstad Manor from the steward in Morthal.

Thanks for any advice - Google search shows quite a few people have been hit by this recently despite having no issues before. but none seem to have been able to fix it.

you need to negotiate that riften goes to the empire and morthal goes to the stormcloak rebellion
Or finish the civil war, once that's over you can buy property anywhere, although it might be through the new Jarls and Stewards.

Do you have to finish the civil war? Current playthrough I'm on, I just bought Honeyside and haven't even started the civil war. I thought the only conditions were do the skooma questline.

Ouch - I had no intention of playing the Civil War or the Main Quest in the playthrough, which means Breezehome and Hjerim were not going to be available. Now this bug has broken Honeyside as well...

How irritating that such a bug can find its way into the game when it was working fine before :(

That's how the quest is supposed to work, but my guess is that the advice comes from people who have encountered the bug and have discovered a method which can fix the quest. I really don't like playing the Civil War, though....

Hjerim defiantely has a requirement of getting to a certain point in the Civil War (can't remember where or if you have to end it). I've completed Blood on the Ice and then you still have to wait for the Civil War to continue past a certain point before the Jarl says you can purchase it. Honeyside, Vlindrel Hall and that one in Solitude I never buy shouldn't. I think.

You should be able to get the house I have done it before. There are still bugs even with all the mods look at any that you have added.

You might try waiting for 10 days (cell reset time?) and going back, see if Anuriel offers it then. Not sure if you should try some of the console commands, they can break your game more than help it frequently.

No, you can leave the civil war unfinished. But once it is finished, you can buy property anywhere, which would solve Ianliew's problem. It was just another option.

The one in Solitude is worth it, good lay out, and loads of junk in the bottom floor, it's a hoarders dream :)

Have you started the civil war at all??
Because if you haven't, then you can't have chosen the wrong side, so the steward should sell the house to you.

If you have, well I can't actually recall which side Riften is on, so I can't say which side was the right one for the house.

I haven't started Civil War yet, no.

Then there is no reason for the steward not to sell the property to you.
Because you haven't chosen a side, the steward and the Jarl won't have any animosity towards you, meaning that you are free to buy and become thane.

Have you started the thieves guild quests, specifically to the point were the thieves guild considers you an enemy . Because the Jarl is so involved with the thieves guild, it might be influencing the sale of honeyside.

The only other thing is mods, if you have a mod that affects riften/anuriel/jarl/civil war that could be doing it.

It's definitely a bug - the Jarl already told me to buy the house from ANuriel, and the quest marker even appears over her head. Herdialogue is normal, just that the option doesn't appear in her conversation. Even taking on the "I'm looking for work" option and clearing it out from her dialogue tree doesn't spawn the "I'd like to buy a house" option. So far lots of people have posted this issue but sadly no one seems to have a solution. Going to download the construction set and see if I can get any clues in there, thanks for the support, guys! :)

One thing you can try, I've had to do it twice with other quests, look at Anuriel, open the console, click on her and type disable, hit enter, then type enable, hit enter. Not sure if this will do much, but I've been stuck on 2 quests through all my time and this set the NPC to the proper interaction. Make sure you have a save before you do this though.
