I suddenly became a vampire..?
Hey everyone,

So I'm going for my 2nd playthrough of Skyrim, first one on PC and I'm loving it so far but I just have this issue that I'm a vampire since two days. First I didn't care about it to much but now I just got attacked by and entire city and I think (I've read a little bit about vampire vs werwolf) that I'm a 'stage 4 vampire' now?

I don't know anything about vampires or werewolfs, I just know that I suddenly became it and didn't do anything for it or used it or whatever, the only thing I've noticed is that I'm weaker during the day and my screen's flashing red sometime... Can someone please explain to me what is going on here lol...

Okay so I found out that I became a vampire because of a spell... Now I have an old save of me just before I'll get level 4 so I can still fix this I guess but how do I get the questline?

go to a bar in whiterun and ask the bartender if she heard any rumors twice.

Being a vampire has quite some benefits. First of all, you became an vampire because you got infected with sanguinare vampiris by an vampire and didn't cure it in time. You can read up the pros and cons of it in the wiki, but the most important thing is that you get attacked if you don't feed long enough (this gets removed by the Dawnguard DLC, which I assume you have, since vampires attacked you in a city).

Well I don't have any DLC haha... I can't recall whether I got attacked in a city or not...

I didn't complete that quest either. Anyway I think I just was at the wrong place at the wrong time :P

The deal is that if you get infected by a vampire, failing to cure the disease within three days (which can be done in the same way as with any disease - eg activating a shrine) turns you into one. At this point, you start to go through the four vampiric stages over time, gaining some powers and losing others as you do, and regular curing no longer works.

At stage four, regular NPCs will attack you on sight (though as mentioned, if you had the Dawnguard DLC this wouldn't happen). At any point you can go back to stage one by drinking blood (find someone who's sleeping, then go as if to pickpocket from them - Dawnguard also adds easier feeding methods).

To ditch your vampirism entirely, talk to some innkeepers - their conversation options should get you started on the relevant quest.

Er, no.

You're thinking cannibal, a "people eater". Vampires are "people drinkers" and are completely unrelated to that quest.

Yes I followed your steps and I'm back to human! Thanks for explaining to me and when the time comes I will make my choice between vampire or werewolf, but right now I have to much stuff to do so I'll save it for a rainy day.

If you are planning to get a werewolf or a vampire, get the DLCs. They strongly improve the gameplay of both (and you'll get Skyrim Remastered for free).

Now you can use necromage to boost your enchantments to the max.

Have you done the companions questline, werewolf is a vampire cure, and the questline lets you cure the lycanthropy (werewolfism)
