Summerset Isle mod maker a sulky little troll
How amusing. I downloaded Summerset Isle from Nexus and was banned from viewing that page because I had the audacity to say I had to uninstall because the mod was exponentially increasing my load and save times. Seriously. I DID want to actually play and was hoping for some help but got banned from viewing that guys mods.

I like the Nexus, but the empowerment of mod authors and the lack of an arbitration board is a bit odd. Anyone else have any good stories of people's abuse of power?

Are you using SKSE memory tweak?

ignore it and move on. There are plenty of other mods you can try out. If he wants to block users instead of using negative comments in an attempt to make his mod better, that's his problem. He won't be getting many players trying his new mods if he gets a bad reputation of mods that don't work properly and banning users for pointing it out.

SKSE memory tweak and ENBoost are both mentioned in the ReadMe file. You can't fault mod author, if users do not read and follow instructions they give.

Insulting mod authors in Steam forum is not making things any better by the way.

So, I am still waiting for an answer. Did captainradish use SKSE memory tweak that was mentioned in the ReadMe file to cover the exact problem above?

I've used both the memory tweak and enboost for years. That is not the problem. It's not a problem with my vram as I have 4x the amount he thinks is required. I never got to Summerset Isle. My load times increased exponentially.

This is not a problem I have seen anywhere else with any other mod I have installed (and I have played quite a few). I'm faulting the mod author because he apparently decided it's better to block people from viewing the mod rather than take polite criticism. Stocking your comments with sycophants is just...sickening.

You're lucky you came here to vent; as Valve won't ban you.
If you vented on the Nexus, you could say bye-bye to your Skyrim modding experience.

Goes to show how much influence Nexus has over Bethesda modding; I say its too much

Good to hear. That information will help me to check if there is something strange going on with the mod, when I pop it open.

Honestly it's visually pretty but that's about it.

Super dull otherwise.

Not to mention it uses "no hand holding" to excuse the fact that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nothing is explained.

So basically, you wander around, talk to 10k NPC's that have nothing to say while admiring the nice visuals and then... maybe you get a quest that isn't really dull.

If you're lucky.

A lack of arbitration and oversight is usually a bad thing.
Of course, too much is bad too.

Also sounds like mod author needs to learn that criticism isn't always bad. You get valid criticism, you fix problem, then most people say thanks and the product is better too.

He sounds like a real jerk. I feel for you.

If you ever see a mod, or anything really, that uses that excuse, walk away. I get that some authors don't want to explain everything, but sometimes an explanation is needed. And authors who don't want to talk to their customers at all shouldn't be authors.

Yep. I'd like to think I'm intelligent enough to not rock the boat over at Nexus more than I apparently do. I like the site a lot and I like MOST of the authors and people over there. I've honestly never seen this before and it just made me realize there's no way to arbitrate disputes rather than giving mod authors total authoritarian rule over their little domains.

Looks like I managed to avoid having to roll back my save several hours when inevitably I figured that out for myself. I apparently got suckered in via the mods sycophants myself. I probably should have paid more attention to the reddit post that basically said the same thing you did.

There is, but you would need a group of people who understand modding better than the authors, and pay them to arbitrate disputes.
Which costs.
And since that introduces expense to the equation, they can't afford to do it.
But that isn't the same as saying there is no way to do it.

At least in this circumstance I don't think that is the case. All I need is a moderator to see that what I posted wasn't inflaming nor spam nor overly negative and the block would be overturned. I was polite and didn't insult the mod or the maker whatsoever (at least by any reasonable standard). All I said was people needed to be warned that the mod increased load and save times considerably.

Yes, I agree, but my point was this introduces a cost, the wages of the moderator, and thus won't happen. It should happen, and would be nice if it did, though.
