OP, I have seen that the Bandit Patrols plugin from OBIS can have this problem. I would advise disabling it, as apparently the author/someone knowledgable has warned against it (though no explanation given).
I'll keep it in mind, but i've seen the problem I described in the post happening with Vanilla NPCs as well as ones from mods, elves typically. Also there are no sex mods so i'm not entirely sure what that's about.
Tried to do exporting Facegen for the NPCs that were suffering from the grey face here as it seemed to be a conflict with Ethereal Elven Overhaul, and when I tried to it gave errors saying it failed to load hair, hairline, femalebrows, femalehead, mouthhumanf, eyesfemale....all .nif files. It does this for both genders of NPCs. I'm at a complete loss.
You problem do come when you install in wrong order.
Since you use cbbe did you run Bodyslide? and cleared out the old meshes first befor you did run it?
Did forget, is it all elf that have wrong colur on their head? That is one annoying issue that is hard to get rid of.
The load order is LOOT approved. I did not use bodyslide. Right now it's strictly several elves that have the problem and I verified this both in game and corresponding on TESVEdit.
What mod manager do you use?
I use NMM.
You actually need to remove all body mods, all of them and then after that install them in the correct order.
And that takes some time to do. I should go whit your suggestion in your first post. Ignore it for some time.
