What Crops Should I Plant ??
Hi All

I've built that Heljarchan (sic) Farm but I've really no idea what crops I should plant ... I've never done the farming route before ...
Should I just plant loads of wheat, potatoes etc or is there some fiendish trick you all use that makes you tons of money .....

I go with alchemy plants. Wheat's fine, but no need for yet more potatoes. There's not enough space in that tiny plot for real agriculture, so just stick to some useful alchemy ingredients. Or if you're not into alchemy, just plant stuff that's pretty.

p.s. Assuming you meant Heljarchan Hall.

Hey B A, what's up! I've had H Farm in my games, and I usually try to plant the things that are hard to find or obtain, and the plants that I use the most of for making potions or cooking. The Farm itself generates income even if nothing is planted - there's no direct tie-in between what you plant and how much income is derived from the farm. Of course, when planting, besides the usefulness of the items, I also try to make it aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

And off in the corner I plant the bodies of those who have really ticked me off.

I plant alchemy ingredients that I find beneficial to whatever character I'm playing. But if you're after money, Scaly Pholiota, Creep Cluster and Mora Tapinela.

Plant dragons teeth, let them grow and then reap what you sow.

I understand now .... mixture of all needed ... basic mead crops, alchemy, make it look pretty and finally ...things that are hard to find or obtain ... (which I won't know what they are because they're things that are hard to find or obtain)
Got it !!!

Thanks for that ... downloading now ...
Always good to add more complexity to the game ... gives me so much more to ignore and forget about until it's far too late .... I have rather a strange playthrough style ...lol

Use this myself - problem is, as with most of my mods, they've been in my load order basically from since I started adding mods, so I tend to think of them as just being part of the game, now, and forget (or don't think) to recommend them!

I thought more plants was part of the guide ...? Thats why I mentioned planting garlic, tomotoes, and carrots. They don't actually exist as part of hearthfires, along with elves ear and frost Mirium. I think you already have it but I can't keep up with the guide LOL

Once did a playthrough with this farm mod, the Millwater Retreat mod and Windstad Mine. Had septims coming out my ears.

I was going to head off and start Windstad Mine tonight ... so I may wait a bit .... don't want too much easy cash ... it turns the young ladies heads and I can't be sure they just want me for my dragon slaying skills alone

If making money from alchemy it your main aim there's the mod
Prosperous Alchemist - Craft the most valuable potions by Axxonite
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38634/?

Which gives recipe combination suggestions for the most expensive combination. Which usually involves the rarest ingredients like giant's toe. Seems handy at first for :goldstack:.

I also used the Alchemist Compendium .. which lists most ingredients with only about 4 errors only downside is having to manually turn each page of the book starting at A by the time I got close to the recipe I was after I had been distracted by all the pictures and forgot what I was looking for. If it had a menu with links to recipes it would be sensational!

What I would Love for Alchemy is that recipes stay in the Alchemy menu regardless whether you have the ingredients or not. At the moment recipes only appear if you have at least one ingredient.

So why would missing ingredients remove recipes from your alchemy menu?
