Skyrim on Windows 10, no fullscreen, windowed mode only!
I bought a new desktop PC (not a laptop), installed Steam & Skyrim, and tried running. I got Skyrim in a borderless window, and could not go full-screen.
After a brief chat with support I realized my graphics card was unsuitable (on-board Intel HD Graphics 530 - yes, stupid of me). I went and bought an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti. I installed it, updated the drivers, used the GeForce Experience interface to optimize the game settings of Skyrim, clicked PLAY and... voila! Still windowed mode. Still no full screen.
I tried setting both TESV.exe and SkyrimLauncher.exe to run as admin. No help.
I made sure neither of them had Compatibility Mode checked. No help.
I tried uninstalling Steam & Skyrim and reinstalling them. No help.
I'm really at a loss here. I suspected something was left over in the registry from the first installation when the graphics driver was still lousy, but I can't find anything meaningful in the registry (not that I am 100% sure where to look...).
Suggestions are welcome.:steamsad:

go to Documents\My Games\Skyrim and delete RendererInfo.txt, Skyrim.ini, and SkyrimPrefs.ini. start game and files should be regenerated. perhaps game was using settings from HD graphics. I have a 750ti - been playing fullscreen all along.

Tried that, too. Got recreated, and parameters look good, but still it starts up windowed, even though (in SkyrimPrefs.ini) :
bFull Screen=1 iSize H=1080 iSize W=1920

Heh, yes, of course.
I've got Overwatch on the same computer. Runs like magic, great graphics, no problems.

I have this problem with New Vegas. I never found a fix, and I now just use a borderless windowed fullscreen mod for it.

I havent tried this
properties,setlaunch options

-fullscreen
Forces the engine to start in fullscreen mode.

Stuck in Windowed Mode section.
Thanks! That one did the trick - SKSE + OneTrick.
I'm still not 100% sure it's using the best definitions for my graphics card, but at least it's fullscreen now!
I still don't understand why it won't give me OPTIONS in the game start menu. And... can anyone say where my saved games have gone? I thought Steam synched them automatically?

So you the Options section is greyed out? If so, try validating your files, the part about the ini's is important.

Also, if you have the newest GPU driver try going back to an older one. Or update to a newer one.

Steam Cloud is not exactly a sync, it is more of a backup and sometimes it will replace a newer save with an older one! It is not recommended to be used.

1. Start the program
2. Open Skyrim (u have to start it in windowed mode. NOT FULLSCREEN)
3. Right click this icon: https://imgur.com/C1OEiiw and click "Add Window" (or press F3)
4. Right click the icon again. Then go "Settings" -> "Game Settings"
5. You should now see this Window: https://imgur.com/o47AODc
6. If Skyrim is not choosen automatically, choose it yourself by clicking the drop down list (right of "Games")
7. Now choose the Resolution u want and click "Apply"
8. if everything works (it should, at least it does for me), right click the icon again and go "Settings" -> "Global Settings"
9. now click what i marked in red: https://imgur.com/A8tKUsm and Skyirm should always start in Fullscreen if the program is open
