Best location for a player home
I need some help. I want to start modding again but I have no idea where to build my house/homstead/home. Last time I was using the Creation Kit I spent time scouting for the perfect place, but I didn't find it.

Where would you want a house in Skyrim?
Any valid suggestion is appreciated.

For me, I would build in High Rothgard ( I can't remember the correct name, ya know the mountain with the greybeards) and have like a bridge to access it with pillars to support it.

Infront of Bleak fall's barrow is nice.
I tried building in CK but my skills weren't good enough!

There's a place that I think is perfect right in the middle between Riverwood, Whiterun and High Hrothgar. There is a peak ... tall hill close to where the road does a double bend while following the river.

It would create an area that can become a fortress as the road has a lot of high embankments. It also creates an area behind connecting the road to Bleak falls Barrow and a down hill run straight down to whiterun ... so that would make a safe stable area.

With a Viewing area at the top of a mansion there, you would have a views down riverwood valley and the whole whiterun valley.

Once you get the basics down(how to place stuff and move it) its pretty simple.
Bethesda has some CK tutorials on their YT channel. If you watch those you'll get the hang of it pretty fast.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll definitely check out those places.
I did do some modding early on with a mod called "Bluecreek estate"
To get started I just wanted to add extra seats to a hot tub the mod author had built and uploaded. Asked and he said knock yourself out ... So for my own game just loaded his mod into the CK and then replaced the seats with ones I wanted and renavmeshed the area around it.
So that was simple and doing the tutorials are good but for a large house ... mansion .. I found I preferred to play with others mods.

Hope it works for you, if it becomes a mod I would be very interested!
I have around 140 hours in the CK but I've only published 3-4 houses.
Sadly I tend to either get bored or lose inspiration once I've started, unless I find some primo real estate.
If you are up to building an island, the big lake in Falkreath Hold might be a nice spot, sort of your own Goldenglow estate.

There is also a beautiful spot in the forests in southern Falkreath, I think located a bit east of Peak's Shade Tower, probably on a different access trail.

I also liked the idea of building near High Hrothgar. I'd have to go look at the layout in game, but I think I would go for the mountain/peak on the east side, and maybe tie it in to the trail on the main mountain.
I came across a really sweet spot to build on. I haven't been back to it yet since I started a new game (deleted all my old saves).
But, when I do come across it again I'll be sure to post a screenshot of it with a personal map marker on it.

Could you post a screenshot of where that is on the map? I would absolutely love to see that in my game!

Maybe. I don't actually know exactly where it is, but I think it's near the quest marker for one of my mods. I'll try to tack it down later on today, but it will probably be a few hours.
Nothing compares to "Underground Bathhouse" by Andragon on Nexus. It is so beautiful and spacious. No ugly rock walls or crappy floors. Numerous pools and hottubs. It even comes with dialog additions so you can ask any follower in Skyrim to live there with you. I have 10 beautiful women living there with me right now with room for more. Bless This House works so if you get married or adopt kids they will live with you. When you need a follower they're
all eager to join you. When you split up she/he will head back to the bathhouse so you never lose track of them. Even a divorced spouse will continue to live there. lol

Everything is there plus. Go look at it, it's great.

I'm not connected in anyway to Andragon but I really love his/her mod.
Sorry, I couldn't find the spot. I just started a new charecter on a new loadout, and I'm not strong enough to really explore that area without being killed.

As best as I can remember, that little grove is off one of the trails that splits off the road between Falkreath and Helgan, heading south, probably near and east of the bandits outpost/bridge that drops rocks all over the road. Hope it helps.
As I mentioned before; I said I would post a screenshot of the spot. Actually there are two really sweet spots to buid on. Here they are. I am standing in one spot and the other is the custom destination marker.

Here is the blue map marker location. Beautiful view on all sides. Can even see the ocean off to the Northeast.

I'd actually prefer to have a home near the hot springs in the Rift, (fairly close to the entrance to the Eldergleam Sanctuary). A nice hot bath whenever you need it, reasonably close to Riften and also a short run to Windhelm and not too far from High Hrothgar.

Maybe off the coast near Solitude, maybe on stilts, with a nice boat tied up there too.
