To veteran players, is werewolf form overpowered?
I am thinking of just using it for the companions quest line than curing it, I don't want to have an essentially free mega boon for the rest of the game that took little effort to acquire. I just got it mind you, just taking a look at the perk tree, testing it out, and it *seems* to be overpowered.

Veterans, what's the consensus on werewolf form?

In a fight, sure, its very powerful. But you cant interact with most things (cannot loot either), have to wait it out for it to go away (I wish there was an "end form" ability like Vampire Lords have), and it takes a full day to be usable again. If you want to go around killing everything, yeah, its great for that, but if you want to actually do anything, it is very inconvenient.

As the user above said the form is strong. No doubt about it. Even in tight binds you can fear spam. Including the drawbacks mentioned above, you lose your armor rating when in the form of the wolf.

But overall yes, if you're looking to limit yourself. Cure it.

OR there's an artifact in the game that takes control away from you. You are forced to transform at random. That could be interesting to play with.

On harder difficulties it becomes more of a liability. You loose all your armor and enchantments. You need the ring of hircine to use it frequently (else the rings sold in solsteim). Also against tougher foes like a briar heart it does pathetic damage compared to your trusty bow/mace.

The ring only causes random transformation if not cleansed by turning hircines hunt insideout.

On the higher difficulties or high level it becomes less and less useful as you need your armor more, without mods after like lvl 30 it is pretty weak. I am lvl 50 and it still remains strong, I use Werewolf Mastery. And one more thing if you don't have Dawngaurd it is even worse.

Vampire lord is better because it is at least ranged and you can enjoy the necromage perk when not transformed.

Hmm not really
Werewolf yea its powerful against pretty much majority of melee enemies and some ranged enemies.

But mages and higher level vampires or anything that is resistant to stuns make short work out of Werewolf form unless you stack up on passive magic resistance "Lord Stone , Breton passive etc"

On top of that:
Once per day usage, mediocre health gain , lack of health regeneration and somewhat subpar melee damage on highest difficulty.

Yea its far from overpowered.
Unless you use mods like Werewolf Upgrade for example.. this one makes Werewolf endgame and Legendary difficulty viable.

As for Vampire lord..
People saying its overpowered make me laugh.
Sure Vampire Lord can overheal most dmg but his vampiric drain or claw damage doesn't scale very well into higher level difficulties...

with the expansions:

werewolf is not OP at all. If anything it takes more damage than your normal form at higher levels. I dislike it, it feels weak to me.

vampire is much more powerful esp for a caster. A caster with reduced casting costs can use the pick up and throw ability nonstop, tossing stuff way up and letting gravity do the work or whatever. It can walk over water, also very useful. It moves very fast. The aoe nuke skill, also spammable, is very good as well.

Well werewolf can stunlock enemies too like that or kill them with gravity.
the RMB + LMB or foward power attack ragdolls enemies and sends them flying its fast to perform and it costs pretty much just little stamina that you regenerate in blink of an eye.

Basically hard fights look like this : Howl of terror to disperse mid level enemies , stunlock the high level heavy and slash him while hes down then deal with rest of the enemies cowering in fear.

With Dawnguard addon the Howl of Terror is pretty useful as it works on most stuff now.
