Turn down the difficulty one notch.

That's for milk drinkers. I need a better approach.

Get gud!

If you can't turn down your difficulty, then live with it. You chose Master Difficulty for a reason. This is it.

Like Docsprock said turn down the difficulty, also invest in combat perks most notably blocking, and one handed weapons (or two handed), also to level up combat skills faster go to areas where you know enemies can be dispatched easier, such as Valtheim Towers, Fort Amol, Fort Greymoor, ect. also make it a point to go after wolves, foxes and goats (sounds lame but it works) other then that mods are the only way.

I'd say thats not a good style for Master, magic is weak early on, and if you can't invest fully in it it remains weak. But if insist on being a spellsword on master well I have a few tips. Keep moving first of all and make use of rune spells, rune traps are quite strong and if you can lure an enemy itno one it should make the fight much easier, also invest in some restoration and i'd suggest using primarly ice spells, they slow down and destroy the stamina of an enemy.

If you can get them alone, a follower should make the battle fairly trivial; just wander around and bash them whenever they try to power attack. If they start targetting your follower, furthermore bash whenever your follower attacks (to prevent them from blocking).

If you can't get them alone, concentrate on whittling down the other enemy forces whilst attempting to keep your follower between the thug and yourself.

Canis root & Imp stool. That is all. You will not fail.

I have made a character starting on legendary from lvl 1 and am currently 60 odd and going strong. Some areas are just harder than others. Assume all non spell damage is lethal so do not get hit.

I prefer Impstool + Canis root + Deathbell/Nightshade.

On harder difficulties player damage sucks (unless you have an insane smithing skill) so you are reduced to a support role while summons/followers are your damage dealers.
