Actually, during dwanguard, there's 2 chances to become a vampire lord if you side with the dawnguard. Once during the quest chain, or any time after (after is safest).

Pros for Volkihar(vampires): Vampire specific artifacts, can turn spouse into a vampire, vampire lord.
Pros for Dawnguard: More artifacts to obtain, crossbows (if you're an archer), huskies, armored trolls, access to many followers.

Playthrough once as a Vampire, then playthrough again with the Dawnguard.

One thing I do like about going vampire though is the extra wild encounters it unlocks. IIRC, you will still have to deal with vampire attacks on the cities, and those vampires will still be hostile towards you, but then there will also be dawnguard hunting parties that will attack you on sight. XD

You forgot that you can also unlock sun powers that exlusive against undead, vampires in restoration skill and cost a lot less than destruction spells.

Well tbh, those spells are kinda meh...and don't really get buffed with restoration perks without mods so...

They work same as destruction spells and they can be buffed in restoration skill perk: "all restoration spells are more effective against undead" (or something like that) and sun spells also can be buffed in destruction perks as well: Impact and more damage from casting spell with 2 hands at same time

It's just too gimmicky, and not very effective in practice. Tbh, most things in Skyrim are really poorly balanced. I find that being a vampire is about as effective as investing in the lockpicking skill tree.

Have you even tried? It super effective, same good as fire ball and it cost 3 times less to cast

I have a really hard time reading your comments.

Most of the damage that mage is going to do is from alchemy. Stacking weakness poisons and using Fortify Destruction potions is a lot easier and more effective than being a vampire, and has no downsides. That's assuming that this person is even playing as a mage.
What are you even talking about? I'm talking about Dawnguards sun magic that you can unlock during the quest if you join dawnguard

But you can cast EVERY destruction spell for free with enchanting.
Exploits and extremes doesn't counts in this comparison. I'm comparing in normal circumstances of average players gameplay where they didn't cheat the system thanks to some flaws and exploits that developers missed during creation of this game.

It's not an exploit. There's nothing implying that you're not supposed to be able to do it. You don't have to break the game or use any bugs to accomplish it. You just need to be good enough at enchanting.

If we're talking about someone who isn't playing like a tryhard, then yeah, vampires are pretty good. I guess it's my fault for thinking everyone plays on Legendary.
FFS! I didn't said anything about vampires! Omg...

The Better vampires mod makes vampires worth playing. You get to customize it to your taste. Not to mention it has it's own leveling system with new powers when you gain levels. Makes being a Vampire Lord seem meh in comparison.
That being said, I tend to go with Dawnguard because I seem to encounter less bugs.

Overall from playing with both sides, i've enjoyed the dawnguard more than playing with vampires. It's personal perference but I've had more satisfaction killing vampires, ratting out their lairs and such. But saying that, if you follow lore closely (idk if you do) Following it wanted me to side with the dawnguard more, due to what Molag Bal and Harkon did.. So yeah. If you play standard vanilla, I would side dawnguard.:sliphazard:

I say just compromise and become a werewolf and slaughter everyone. ;)
