Mod texture not loading despite it being installed.
Title pretty much sums it up.

My turban is purple where it shouldn't be :p.

I usually get my mods from either Nexus or Steam, though I found a mod that adds a couple of turbans shared on dropbox. I download it all manually, put the .esp file in the place where all the other .esp files go, and I put the textures in the texture folder and the meshes in the meshes folder.

I used console commands to find the IDs for all the turbans and tried them all on, and low and behold, they're all purple. I've been fiddling around with this for a while now, and I can't seem to see what the issue is. I've uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times, tried to see if the textures were in the wrong place. It still doesn't seem to be working.

I've loaded the textures in other software to view and they all come out fine. Idk why Skyrim doesn't like it.

I apologise, I'm not necessarily the most computer literate person, but help would be much much appreciated, cause all I wanna do is run around skyrim with a sick turban lol.

I can post a link to where I found the mod if it would help. I literally typed into google "turbans and headwraps skyrim mod" and it came up on a tumblr post I think.

Thank you so much for any help you give, cheers!

Steam Workshop mods are broken they have been for several years now that is most likely the reason since Steam Workshop mods are never updated so its better to start a new game and only use mods from the Nexus. I learned that the hard way when I used to play Oldrim (Skyrim LE) it became totally unfixable for me and I gave up and went to Skyrim SE

Yeah, I generally get most of my mods from nexus now, though this mod I didn't get on either nexus or steam.

its still likely because you have Steam mods installed

Hey, thank you for this

Started to try all of this but annoyingly, skyrim won't let me select the texture. Because the only way the texture appears is when the item is being worn by me (dropping it only makes it appear in the menu form, which is unlike the actual object, though similarly cannot be selected) and when I click on me, I get the texture for me (I guess, all ik is that it isn't the texture for the the turban because it is the same as when I click anything on me). It also doesn't work when I give it to a follower to wear for a similar reason.

Do you know any way round this?

If he used dropbox...then he didn't get the file from Steam. People should not use these discussion boards to promote anti-workshop silliness. I AM NOT SAYING THE STEAM WORKSHOP IS PERFECT...just don't blame it for everything.

JUST THE OTHER DAY - "someone" told "someone else to delete all of his STEAM files because they were old and were written before 2015. HERE'S the THING the user never said anything about having STEAM files nor did he mentioned their age. THE USER did what he was told which took all about 2 seconds - I guess because he didn't have any STEAM files. AND THIS PERSON'S SOLUTION STILL DIDN'T WORK.

ALL THE USER SAID WAS EVERYTHING WAS WORKING FINE...AND THEN THINGS STOP WORKING. I SAID HE SHOULD VERIFY HIS LOCAL FILES AND RUN LOOT. SOMEONE - AN OLD MAN WITH MUSTASH - CAME ALONG and told OP NOT TO LISTEN TO ME. OP LISTENED...AND HIS SYSTEM IS STILL DOWN.

IF YOU NEVER WORKED WITH NIF FILES, DDS FILES AND/OR NEVER CREATED A .BSA FILE. YOU REALLY SHOULDN'T BE TRYING TO PASS YOURSELF OFF AS SOME TYPE OF EXPERT

KNOW A LITTLE SOMETHING ABOUT THE SUBJECT MATTER BEFORE YOU RUN YOUR MOUTH OFF.

THE TOP 25 STEAM FILES CAME FROM NEXUS. THEY WEREN'T MODIFIED NOR CHANGED. IN MOST CASES the only thing done to them - a .bsa file was created.

STOP TALKING ABOUT STUFF YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA OF....

You can look at the texture files using photoshop and the .nif files using NIFSKOPE. Using a combination of NIFSKOPE and the Creation Kit you can set the paths yourself (assuming that they're not missing and are good working order).

[Its not enough that they are on your computer (installed)...their paths have to be set too]

Thanks,

I'm not really too sure how to set the paths myself, could you explain it or point me in the direction of a good tutorial that'll help?

I have loaded the headwrap into nifskope and I've tried to fiddle around with it (I found a way to load in a texture, but it doesn't seem to do anything, even when I turned textures on in the render section). Also I don't have creation kit could you explain how it would help?

Thank you very much for this, ik I'm not the most literate when it comes to all this so it really helps when people like you come and teach me a little.

Also, a note, I found since posting that actually a set of the textures do work in game, but the rest don't.

Yeah, initially, but when I click the button labelled "textures (alt-T)" in the "render" drop down menu it turns white (which is still not the texture its supposed to be). I'm not sure whether that's significant but it happens.

sounds like that the way the author intended it to be (your best bet is to contact the mod author for a quicker solution)

if you want to play around with a little bit more
watch this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYf6pw4V0iw

you can retexture it yourself but you'll need photoshop

Cool, thanks.

I don't think its meant to be that way, because the textures load into lots of different designs when opened in other applications, so it seems there's some issue with the meshes being able to load these textures (or something, I'm not too familiar with this stuff)
