Prima Guide?
Hi All - I played a couple of years ago but have not fired it up in a while. I just got a get key which gave me the rest of the DLC in anticipation of the special edition. Amazon has the hardback prima guide for pre-order of $31, softcover is $21. Is it worth it getting the guide and is hardback worth $10 over paperback?

Can't answer as to the worth of the Prima Guide, but you can alway just go to http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Skyrim . Has all the info you could want re: Skyrim, and it's free (though, of course, sometimes having a book in hand might be more to some people's taste).

Yeah, the one I got was only up to Dawnguard and it was the size of a major city phone book. Dragonborn would make it even bigger than Atlas Shrugged.

Personally, I don't think you need a guide for the current game. The wiki's usually have the info on the vanilla game including bugs but also the major quest mods. The problem is that you need to be online to access a wiki.

Guides usually have omissions.
I do have the guide, useful for bigger quests, and you can have it open while you are doing it. Online wiki's are useful for researching, and finding soloutions to bugs, but they too can have omissions.

Sadly fewer and fewer guides are being sold in the shops, which while understandable means you are left with online guides only. And remember various universities have proven that people retain information from the internet less than from other sources, even when it's the same information. (which is Ironic since I started that sentence with "And remember")

I have the Prima Guide covering Skryim and all three DLCs. It's over 1000 pages long and the size of a large city phone book. I find that I use the UESP Wiki more often than the guide, but it's still nice to have to refer to without having to open an online site.

I used it more frequently when I first started playing Skyrim. Its city maps were particularly helpful when I discovered new cities and didn't know where vendors or NPCs were located.

Be thankful you didn't buy the digital guide here on Steam, which no longer exists. but hey glad I could pay someone for absolutely nothing...again....and again. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Steam.
