Any Tips for Vampires?
Since getting the new DLC I've never actually played as a Vampire.

Was thinking of playing as one for my next character so any tips on utilizing their abilities?
(I plan on becoming a Vampire Lord)

Also whats a good way to survive in the daytime? I obviously plan on doing most adventuring at night but how do you guys get past the weakness to sunlight?
(Other than Alchemy, I dont plan on using it)

Should I invest in Restoration adn Magicka regen?
Or enchant my items with health regen and my weapons with life steal?

I plan on using Onehanded, Illusion, Sneak, Enchanting, and maybe some Conjuration

Any advice is appreciated!

Vampire lords don't have weakness to sunlight, they do still have weakness to fire though.
Create armour with fire resistance. The game has some gear that works better for vampire lords, but I can't remember what, apart from Harkon's sword and armour.

For combat, keep your distance from foes, and use your spells wisely. You need to invest in vampire perks to make the most out of vampire lord, which involves killing with energy drain or feeding (in combat of course).

If you want to have control over your vampire experience, I recommend the Better Vampires mod.

Sorry let me rephrase, I ment when im just rolling around in my regular form, not my Vampire Lord form. When you arent in Vampire Lord form you still have weakness to sunlight right?

No, that's the point of the vampire lord.

Regular vampires have weakness to sunlight, vampire lord doesn't, he can sunbath in the sahara with no ill efects.

Yes, you are still vulnerable to sunlight in humanoid form. The person who gives it to you will tell you that straight up. Also, if you're going to be going about in your normal form, I must second Jimanity's mention of the Better Vampires mod.

I third that suggestion if you use mods at all. He's also released an interesting looking little quest mod called Better Vampire Weapons and is working on an NPC overhaul that he's calling (no surprise here) Better Vampire NPCs

First bit of advice: go early and do the quests to become Thane of either Dawnstar, Falkreath, Morthal or Riften. The first three choices allow you to build a house out in the countryside, away from nosy guards, while the Riften house is unique in that it has doors both outside and inside the town, allowing you to bypass the permanent guards at the doors.

Second, pay careful attention to the time that it takes you to go between locations, both walking and riding (unmounted fast travel seems to be based on walking speed and not running.) That way, you can judge whether you're likely to get to your destination before the sun becomes a problem.

Third, carefully consider the special gear that came with Dawnguard. I can't remember the specific name, but there's a piece of unique vampire armor that boosts certain skills tremendously. May want to take that into consideration in deciding how you want to play (aside frombeing a vampire).

Breton is a good race for a vampire.

Also Yes you still have weekness to sunlight. You dont take damage or anything dramatic like that in oblivion. It causes you to have no regeneration of your stamina and health while in the light. :)

Lady Stone is useful for countering this, if you don't want any particular another sign and/or want to use enchants other than regen.

Does it matter if I get the Necromage perk before or after I have a active effect or standing stone?
DrSuperEvil Oct 13, 2016 @ 3:17pm
Nope. The necromage perk affects all restoration class buffs when you are a vamprire including all enchanted items and stones.

As a vampire or vampire lord you have the same weaknesses during the day. Only advantage vampire lord has over regular vampire is the transformation and associated skill tree. Long term a human form regular vampire is better due to being able to hit insane enchanting boosts on their gear (if using alchemy) than a tranformed vampire lord which on legendary difficulty is weaker than a werewolf (not that they are any use).

I highly recommend Better Vampires, Royal Bloodline, Better Vampire Fangs and eyes, Vampire Lord Life drained fixed with Serana, and Better Vampire Weapon mods. These greatly enhance playing as a vampire.

Some nice optional ones: Seranholic, Serana Dialog Edit, Lustmord Vampire Armor and/or Evil Mastermind Armor.

Necromage no longer works like that if you use the USLEEP.
