Real Life One handed and Stamina; Does swinging a one handed machete fulfill cardio and build muscle? Also, does it build stamina?
I live in an apartment complex, so I like to swing a machete around furiously as exercise. I feel like my muscle is getting better, but I'm not sure if that's just a placebo. My swings are getting faster, though that might just be technique. I sweat and get my heart racing, so would that qualify as real cardio?
It's like Kendo but one-handed instead of two.

You know, I believe the more serious thing than if that is effective excerise is why you are swinging around a weapon in your house.
They built Gyms for this you know.

Not to ruin the song, but swinging a machette could help you build strength but you need to be hitting something. Such as chopping weeds, or hitting a target (hopefully not a living creature) Otherwise you aren't going to do much.

What he said lol. You need to be hitting something. Also I do not recommend using a machete if you are going to be hitting things, they are cutting weapons, meant to be cutting plant material. Get a real sword, or just a blunt steel trainer. I think they cost around $75-$150 for the high quality ones. It would also help if you learned a fighting style if you were serious lol. That can help you become more organized in your training lol.

OH WAIT I JUST REMEMBERED SOMETHING. Remember those training dummies that look like scarecrows? They're usually found next to the archery targets, and in solitude, the companions back yard, and even in breezehome, I wonder if there's an RL Equivalent of that, because it would seem like whatever one would use would just get torn up. Those don't seem to though.

the training dummies are made with extremly thick leather and stuffed with wheat, and covered in burlap. worst thing a sword could do to that is get stuck in it. and yes there are real life equivalents. or you could just get a tree stump if you dont mind frequent sharpenings.

If you are training, I'd actually recommend you getting a plastic/wooden sword. Not only are they relatively safer, they're also heavier. You know,

"Hard training makes easier battles"

A proper instructor almost helps. If you want you can take up fencing; I use a machete like a sabre.

I am fairly sure that fencing with a massive knife destroys most of the point.

That depends really. I work under the assumption that the OP wants to use the machete like a weapon rather than a utility tool for his/her workout.

Sabres in fencing are slashing weapons just like machetes.

Fencing sabres are long, thin, and flimsy.
If you slashed a machete, a fencing sabre would have no chance of stopping it, which defeats the point of recreational fencing.

Okay I'm getting a little confused on what's going on here.

I take it you meant that you assumed I mean that OP spars with a fencing sabre?

What I mean is that OP go take fencing lessons so he can learn the form of sabre fencing so he/she can use the machetes more efficiently.
