How do I open up a save from my saves folder on my desktop?
I accidently deleted one of my character's saves I really needed and luckily it says it's still in my saves folder. But how do I open it from there?

Why do you need to open it? If it's still in your saves, the game should be able to open it still. I think.

You could rename the save to something different and see if the game recognizes it.

It's not showing up. I'll try that though.

Skyrim saves are located in documents/my games/Skyrim/saves. If you have a save game located in a different folder just drop it back into this folder and you will be back in business.

Also, Steam saves your saved games for you. Start up the game again and the save file should reappear in your documents/my games/Skyrim/saves folder.

I tried renaming it but it says the file might become unstable. Should I do it anyways?

*Sigh* Nothing. Well I could use a new character but I'll keep trying.

?

Did you try changing the extension or just the file name?
You can create a backup version of the file as well.

If Windows said that, you probably changed the file extension too, which you shouldn't or Skyrim won't find it. :) Make sure it's still an *.ess file when you change its name.

Before it said .skse. Does that mean anything?

You probably installed the skyrim script extender. Each save should have a ess and skse file then. Are you launching the game with the skse loader or from the regular steam launcher? Maybe that's the problem?
