HELP? The Silence Has Been Broken - Dark Brotherhood Quest
I've spoken with Amaund Motierre at the Volunruud crypt, recieved a letter and an amulet, delivered them to Astrid who then sent me to Delvin in the Ragged Flagon. All was good, found out the amulet belongs to one of the Emperor's Elder Council members then went back to Astrid. Problem is I can't go any further with the quest because I am apparently responsible for the 'siege of Solitude' and I am supposed to 'finish that mess'. I am seriously confused and idk what to do.
Got any ideas?
(and please don't be mean or offensive bc I'm a girl or bc I don't know what to do or whatnot)

The end of the message was totally useless... you just give them a reason to be mean.

But, what happen exactly? The npc don't give you the quest or you can't enter solitude?

Did you had do the stormcloak/imperial quests? (join one of their side)
If you do, you just had to continue that quest until the end before doing the
killing emperor thing...

I joined the stormcloaks and I finished the quest - Ulfric said there was nothing left to do. (about theend of the message, I didn't know what to expect I've never used steam before)

Search google or gamefaqs.com for your problem. It might help you.

The siege of Solitude has priority over this quest. The city is modified accordingly and it is not possible to finish this quest, while siege is active.

Unfortunately, there is a slight change that you won't be able to finish it at all. Civil War changes few things in Skyrim and DB questline might get bugged because of it.

Don't worry about it, though. It is possible that everything will go alright - just feel a bit strange - after Civil War is done. Just finish the siege and leave Solitude for a while, once that is done. Then come back to finish what you have started.

I've never done the civil war quest line before the main quest line but that might be your problem. If you start civil war quest before the main story you don't lay siege to Windhelm/Solitude until after the main story is finished (main story involves truce between Tullius and Ulfric). At least, I imagine this is what happens.

That part of the MQ does not happen, if you have finished the Civil War before it would take effect. The main quest will move forward without the negotiations.
