Adopting Lucia
I'm trying to adopt Lucia from Whiterun and when I start a conversation with her and offer to adopt her, she'll say "Really? Do you have a place I can live?" and then the dialogue will suddenly end as though I exited out of it. Has anyone else run into this problem? Do you know how to fix it? I've Googled it but I haven't found any solution or even any mention of it.

Do you have a home ? Breezehome for example.

Did you had a houset? (modded houses don't always work...
except if you had the mod for)

You also need to have the children's bedroom upgrade so that's 5250g you need.

Also, I encountered this bug where you can agree to adopt Lucia but she won't go to the house. I found this happens when you adopt here before actually visiting the house after you buy it so make sure you go inside the house before adopting her.

I have Breezehome and the house in Solitude both fully furnished. I ran into the "I'll be adopted by you but not follow you when I adopted Sophie from Windhelm. If I adopt another child, they'll both turn up but I can't adopt Lucia.

Lucia has some bugs. Install the Unofficial Patches. Specifically the Hearthfire one to solve Lucia's bugs.

I installed both the unofficial patch for Skyrim vanilla and the Hearthfire patch and spoke to Lucia again but to no effect. Thank you for your advice, however.

Perhaps you need to verify the integrity of the game cache now these have been downloaded ??

How do I do that and would I be able to tell if that was an issue? When I brought the game up after installing, a couple of changes had been made; a mysterious amulet I was carrying vanished and was replaced by a necromancer's amulet that looks the same but has some bonuses, so I know something's working.

Verify Game Cache. Library Rt click on Skyrim>Properties>Local Files>Verify integrity og game cache. Wait.

You will see it revalidate and download file/files. It will oalway come up with 1 file failed to validate...ignore it and you will see a downloading bar at bottom of monitor. When it has finished loading exit and restart game.

I believe you get the Necromancers amulet with a Dark Brotherhood quest completion. Never played that faction.

Do people normally verify the game cache on modded games? Mods replace vanilla files so Steam will always find missing files. If you let Steam overwrite these modified game files with the vanilla ones with your mods active, you will most likely get issues.

The mysterious amulet becomes the necromancer's amulet during the quest Blood on the Ice in Widhelm.

Verifying the game cache compares the game files you have on your computer with the latest version on the steam servers.

I was waiting for a reply from Immanuel before advising him to then do a TES5Edit. For Immanuel - TES5Edit cleans up master files in Skyrim which have some dirty edits and deleted references on them in the vanilla Skyrim.

While this is not a problem (supposedly) in an unmodded game it can cause major problems with modded games. If you do a verify game cache it is recommended that you do a TES5Edit afterwards.

Wait, what? You've adopted Sofie or havn't you? Is she at Breezehome or somewhere else? How many do you have?

Yes, I know that's what it does and again, if you have a modded game, Steam will always tell you you're missing files and download the vanilla files back in to overwrite your modded ones.

Now, in case there *is* an actual game update, you actually don't want to immediately update your game if you have mods because that will almost certainly break your game.

As for the OP's issue, I think he's saying he already adopted Sophie and can adopt other kids but his game won't let him adopt Lucia.
